True, but in the end you get there just the same, and not stabbed or infected with octopus flu.Individuality-ness wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:Uh, the last time I flew I didn't feel like I was going to be stabbed by the creepy guy one seat behind me or catch some horrible variation of octopus flu from the diseased woman across the isle...
Sitting at the airport for four hours straight waiting for everyone else to check in to see whether you had room to sit and fly home because for some reason, even though you bought tickets for the 21st of July they have you down for the 24th of July does kill your perception a little though. Just saying.

And I agree, being stuck because some ticket-monkey punched the wrong number sucks, but complaining up the chain usually helps expedite things. And in any event it is a first world problem after all. Some people have to walk the distances we drive or fly just to work...
I use Amtrak pretty frequently as well. A little more expensive than bus tickets but generally it's a pleasant and efficient way of traveling, especially when you get out of the city.

The original plan was for me to go by train... Not sure why it changed... Couldn't really complain since they're paying.

Yeah, the "freedom searches" aren't exactly fun, plus the TSA really doesn't care about the fourth amendment.Individuality-ness wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:True, but in the end you get there just the same, and not stabbed or infected with octopus flu.

True, you do, but you also have to go through airport security, and that's not exactly that fun either. TSA rules about liquids, making sure that you put your laptop in a separate tray, and checking your pockets to ensure that you don't have coins that could set off the metal detector... I don't even want to know what if you get selected for the full body scan.
But yes, first world problems. I like riding the Amtrack, it's comfortable. Plus free Wi-fi.
I'm surprised they didn't give you a rental voucher or offer to pay for your personal vehicle millage instead...Dyakovo wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:True, but in the end you get there just the same, and not stabbed or infected with octopus flu.

If only someone would come out with underwear and shirts that use heavy metallic ink to press shapes into them in the form of guns and knives, excessively of course, gotta keep those TSA monkeys on their toes after all.

All in the name of preventing terrorism, all in the name of preventing terrorism, that's their excuse. So everyone's suspect, and probable cause doesn't really exist either.

Well, come Thursday, they will be providing me with a $100,000+ vehicle, so... Of course they've gotta provide me with transportation to go get the vehicle, plus they're putting me up in a hotel until then, along with providing two meals a day....
In other words, I can't really complain about them being a bit cheap on the initial transport...

It's not like alabaster bastards can't get their hands on big-ass guns legally and do damage that way...
