That's my take on it. I wonder what he did to come up with the kanji.

Well, that's what it comes across as.

When you look at the series of kanji you used to write his name in Japanese, even if you were basing it out of on'yomi reading, they seems a tad random.

A lot of people where I live are raised bilingual, but it tends to be a combination of English and Spanish.

That's what I was pointing out.

Earlier, I went by the possible meanings of his name, divided. That's why, for example, I chose the kanji for ''child'' when it came to represent the 'ko' of his name. That made more sense to me. You said it was wrong, and it very well could be.

I don't love it. In fact, many aspects of it are quite overly patriarcal, absurd, and horrific. But to be a good anthropologist, you have to be as amoral in your observations as possible. You are trying to discern why these cultural behaviors manifest themselves, not whether they are ethical and "right".

I'm just very interested in studying it.

You used katakana, which has no inherent meaning. And I don't think 日 has the proper pronunciation for his name.

I might as well try to find something that works.

His name has no inherent meaning in Japanese to begin with, Azrael. All we have been doing is using approximations. Besides, when writing, the Japanese use both katas and kanji, and even hiragana so I'm not sure what makes my translation bad but not yours. For all we know, we're both wrong.
