I mostly build sandcastles. And by castle, I mean the castle and the surrounding fiefdom.

I do the same thing, I have fields and everything, I always try to see how far into the lake I can get my castle before the waves pummel it into nothingness.

How do people build them anyways? I've never built one...

What I did notice was that in the Old Testament, it repeats itself a lot, especially when it comes to the rituals that they did. You get bored when you have to read for the umpteenth time about the details required for a candle holder or whatnot...

Yeah, plus as a Christian, the OT isn't even really that applicable...

It's an interesting read though, the Old Testament. I'll have to read the New Testament eventually.

I never understood why HOA's have so much power here... its scary and I'd ever live somewhere with one.

The renter ones have quite a bit of power here, the ones for people who buy houses have less power (then again, those don't own the houses). But maybe we're talking about totally different kinds of HOAs here. We probably are, considering that housing and city planning has been a very regulated 'market' here.

I don't really know a lot about it, not being a homeowner myself, but I've heard enough complaints about HOAs and know that I would like my garden to have a certain panache that might not be to their liking.

Yes and no. We have principals we follow, and for the more serious ones (sex before marriage, etc) there will be disciplinary action. Others its up to your conscience. If your conscience tells you its something that you need to change, you can go to the elders, which could still result on disciplinary action, depending, but they'd also give you counsel, and some scriptures or other reference material to help you. But yeah, there are pretty strict principals in regards to a lot of things.
