So Rodgers is shorter odds than Rafa to get the City job:

Yes I know that.

I mean who has been putting enough money on Rodgers going to City to drive his price below Rafa? He's achieved fuck all in his short career and is a year into a new job. Fucking odd choice to put money on, tbh.

Well we don't know what the odds were initially set at. And at the minute Rafa's at 18/1 and Brentan's at 20/1.

 Well don't I look stupid. Not that that is anything new, of course.

Who do we all think will get it? Pellegrini looks to have ruled himself out.

If Pellegrini does take it you're pretty much guaranteed he won't last long. He quit Real because he wasn't really in charge, would Man City be any different?

Mansour doesn't appear to be as overbearing as Perez was. But who knows?

I think they might make a desperate attempt to get Mourinho, personally.

That whirring sound you can hear is Rafa faxing his CV to Mansour as we speak.

EDIT: and if any of our other rivals for the top five or six places in the table fancy changing their manager this season, that'd be great. ta.

Who's left, Wenger? Everyone else will be changing this summer.

4 changes in the top 6 clubs is pretty nuts.

Curiously enough, my scouts keep recommending that I sign Ajdarević on my FM game. He plays for Bournemouth in 2016.

He kicked on the season after this, and I was quite surprised when we just let him go. Considering where he spent the next 4 years or so, maybe it was a wise decision. I am glad his career is recovering though.

The one youth departure I am really pissed off about is Alex Kacanaklic. Fucking Hodgson. Why would the Alien be worth £3.5M, Kaca and Dalle Valle? :palm: >:(

It looks like he was went from Liège to Fulham in January 2014. That season Fulham got relegated ( :( ). Then he went to Bournemouth, who have been consistently in the mid-table range of the Championship. If I played with an attacking central midfielder role that he'd fit well with I'd probably go ahead and buy him, but I'd rather not make a big tactical change for one pretty-good but not great player.

Well if you extend it to the top 8 you'd have 4 changes this year and 3 last year.

Is Adebayor still going back to City at the end of the season or have Spurs actually signed him?

Spurs signed him at the beginning of the season didn't they? They should sell him, he's been awful for most of the season. They should think about buying Benteke or Aubameyang to replace him.

if arsenal need more incentive to beat Wigan tonight this is it.
if we go down Benteke will probably end up at Tottenham. you don't want that.
save the villa, save the north of london.

Benteke is probably leaving anyway, he'll be hard to keep at Villa.

Man City...sadly nothing more than a copy cat club...copying Chelsea by trying to buy silverware. That way success is just a sham. I've lost a lot of respect for Citeh these last 24 months.

That all depends if there is a release clause in his contract and how much it is.

And who approaches the club to buy him...I doubt he'd be happy if say Barca or Real wanted him (very very very unlikely of course)...

I could imagine both Tottenham and Arsenal putting in bids for him. They both need new strikers and Benteke has already proven he can scare goals in this league.

Sure...he certainly has a higher chance of winning silverware with either of those clubs...not a huge chance overall but a higher chance than if he stayed with Villa.

Personally I hope he stays with Villa and grows with the club and the rest of that quite young team into an organisation that might well challenge for silverware.

I would like to see him stay at Villa, I just think it's unlikely. Although if Aubameyang goes to Tottenham, as I hope he will, and Arsenal get a different striker (Remy?) then he might stay as I don't know who else that might want him has the money to get him. If Villa do survive this season and don't lose too many people then they'll have a pretty good young team that could do well in the future.

Considering his agent is talking about adding one to the proposed new contract (which the club is refusing, btw), and Paul Lambert is ramping up the potential transfer price (hes already suggested he values him at more than 25m), I'd reckon it's a safe bet there isn't one. If there was, it would have come out by now.

As for this talk of Arsenal or Tottenham coming in... these are the same clubs that turned down the chance to sign him at 7m last summer, and I doubt one good season is going to be enough to convince them to spend three times that amount (assuming a 20m bid would be enough).

The assumptions people are making are purely because it's Villa and we've had a couple of bad seasons, which were the result of selling our best players, which was the result of the fiscally reckless tenure of Martin O'Neill. The best youth academy in the country, a new transfer policy and a better scouting network would suggest this is unlikely to happen again any time soon.

As long as Wigan don't win tonight, I'm almost certain that Christian Benteke will still be in a claret and blue shirt come August. He has no reason to leave unless someone comes in with a big offer, which is pretty unlikely as he's not English. If a striker is leaving Villa this summer, it's Darren Bent. Unfortunately, since I quite like Benty.

Considering Benteke and Gabby Agbonglahor waking up in the last couple of games are the only reason Villa aren't already relegated, I'd say he's worth the £60m parachute payment they would have got without his presence.

You must be a Premiership manager, as they seem to be the only people who actually like Darren Bent.
