I don't get why Latin is still taught in schools. Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, and German are much more effective, as one can actually communicate properly in those languages. You just can't go to ancient Rome and speak it, like with the others.

Sanskrit and Latin do indeed have some similarities. Spanish, for example, got many words from Arabic which was, too, influenced by Sanskrit.
