I don't get why Latin is still taught in schools. Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, and German are much more effective, as one can actually communicate properly in those languages. You just can't go to ancient Rome and speak it, like with the others.
It makes learning other Indo-European languages easier.
It is a language few understand which make it excellent for more private conversations.
One cannot truly appreciate the classic works of Tacitus, Vergil, and Horace except in their original language.
It has been shown to boost test scores more so than other languages which are still "alive".
It is a wonderful new medium for communication.
Often one learns more about how to speak English properly by studying Latin than they do by studying English.
It's fun.

Doesn't count, I mean like legit go to the country where tey speak it and converse with the naitives.
I got a 1330 on SAT (sans writing) one who studies Latin (albeit Latin 2, I'm in Spanish 4) got a 1250.
I call BS. Grammar ly speaking, English is a Germanic language, borrowing words from many Latin and Germanic languages.
So are other languages. Especially listening in to the Hispanics and their chismo.
