True. California gets earthquakes, and last December my area got a windstorm that killed off the power for 24hrs+.

Earthquakes are nothing. Over in seconds 99.99% of the time they aren't noticable. Most of the rest are just strong enough to make my pencil roll off the desk. True we're due for a big one but we have these things called building standards.

We do, but there's no guarantee that every building is up to the current code you know.

Depends on where its at and several other factors. Keep in mind the last big quake in the area was a 7. something right on the border only a couple buildings collapsed on either side. There will no doubt be collapses but mostly on older buildings built before more modern standards. The biggest worry here though is that many hospitals fall into the category of "older buildings"
