I should seriously write movie scripts.
(open on an empty hospital lobby; YUKTOVA, played by DAVID TENNANT because FUCK THE POLICE, reclines in a couch, silent tears streaming down his cheeks)
(WAZKARYQUE, played by MEL GIBSON, sits next to him)
(in THE WORST IOWAN ACCENT ACCENT EVER) WAZK: Look, Yuk, I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do.
YUK: I... I just miss him so much.
WAZK: Wait, we are still talking about your iPad, right?
YUK: Yeah.
WAZK: Oh, good. I thought it was something important.
YUK: Hey!
WAZK: You can just charge that, you know.
YUK: Do I look like Victor Frankenstein to you, Mel Gibson?!
WAZK: Zach.
YUK: Same thing! It would be unnatural! It would be exactly like a zombie movie!
WAZK: It really wouldn't.
YUK: It really would. What do you know? You don't understand my pain!
WAZK: Exactly why I'm trying to figure it out!
YUK: This relationship is over, Mel Gibson! I'm going home!
WAZK: But, Yuk... you are home!
("BONG-BONG" effect from LAW AND ORDER plays because I GODDAMN SAY SO)
YUK: WHAT?!
WAZK: I'm just kidding ya', pal. Say, you wouldn't know where I could find a good synagogue, would you? Nice and flammable.
(YUKTOVA is extremely confused; MEGAN FOX walks and in and DOES NOTHING BUT ATTRACT THE TEENAGE MALE DEMOGRAPHIC)
(fade to black)

Indeed.
But wouldn't you consider such beings to be outside of a moral compass? After all, morality and immorality are, IMO, human constructs.
Constructs built on the foundation of empathy.
Thus, if we're discussing a being who crafted humans in his image, then we can reasonably assume He possesses empathy, and, most likely, a moral code. Or at least the capability to go '"Hey, maybe putting my children through the worst time-out in history isn't such a nice thing".

Well...I have always wondered WHY God would have created humans in the first place. What motivation could he have? What benefit would it bring Him?

The capacity to create.
If we were to give a deity anthropomorphic features, I guess we could deduce that he had a purpose. But we're referring to a deity. He may not have had any purpose other than to create. After the creation, it was up to humans to find meaning. He perhaps never intended to give any meaning to anything.
