Gaston is my favourite Disney villain because he's the only one who doesn't start out evil. At the beginning of the movie, he's just an obnoxious douchebag. But as he keeps not getting his way, he resorts to more and more underhanded tactics. You get to see every step he takes on the path to becomign something truly monstrous. It's one of the best-written character arcs in the company's history.

My 2-year-old great-nephew likes Mater, who is generally reviled here (in large part because they picked a real dumbass to do his voice, which I can get behind). I'm talking about cutting the kid some slack since he's only 2.

That was the distributor, but it was Don Bluth's animation team that produced it. He was originally a Disney animator before leaving and producing things like The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, and All Dogs Go to Heaven.

Adieuby-dieuby-dieu.
"Then I was fertilized and grew wise;
From a word to a word I was led to a word,
From a work to a work I was led to a work."
- Odin, Hávamál 138-141, the Poetic Edda, as translated by Dan McCoy.

I enjoy meta-humor and self-deprecation. Annoying, right?

Goodbye.

Yeah. It was definitely superior to the original. Although the supposedly Australian characters sounded suspiciously American.
