And here's what I have so far for the first post of the Johto/Kanto signup-thread. Yes, I've done it very far in advance. This RP won't start until at least a couple weeks from now, but I wanted to share what I have so far so that we can critique and tweak it.

Your journey begins in New Bark Town, a small town that happens to be the home of Professor Elm. When Professor Elm asks you to carry out a task for him, little do you know that it's the start of an amazing adventure that will take you to all corners of Johto! You'll encounter experienced Gym Leader, incredible locales, scores of Pokémon and, of course, Team Rocket along the way!

Professor Elm has invited you, just one of a select few new Pokémon trainers, to explore Johto and help him discover new Pokémon. He has seventeen one-of-a-kind Pokémon, and will give away one per trainer. None of the Pokémon can be found or caught in Johto and neighboring Kanto. Which one will you choose?

When you're done traveling through Johto, don't leave just yet because there's all of Kanto to explore as well!

5 Important Things to Know
1. Pokémon locations and the plot are based on Pokémon Crystal.
2. Time-of-Day matters when catching Pokémon. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) will be used.
3. Use Generation V movesets.
4. Battles may be RPed by written posts or through Pokémon Online - Battle Simulator where battles are carried out just like the games (see tutorial below).
5. Pokémon level up based on different types of posts/events (see below).

Rules on Leveling-Up/Evolving
Every Pokémon on hand that is used in battles and/or mentioned in training posts levels-up like so:
+3 for gym battles (win or lose)
+2 for battles with other trainers (win or lose)
+1 for RP posts about training Pokémon + battles with wild Pokémon

• Pokémon that are not used in battles/training do not level up.
• Pokémon do not need to be traded to evolve, but some will still need particular items to evolve. For example: Onix does not need to be traded to evolve, but will still need the item Metal Coat to evolve into Steelix.
—Exceptions: at Lvl 36 Kadabra → Alakazam, at Lvl 36 Machoke → Machamp, at Lvl 36 Graveler → Golem, at Lvl 36 Haunter → Gengar
• Pokémon that evolve via happiness will require a great deal of high-quality posts detailing events that would raise a Pokémon's happiness before evolving. Be creative!

IC Rules

1. Go to Professor Elm to pick your starter Pokémon and to receive your Pokégear.
2. You may carry up to 6 Pokémon on hand at any time. If more are captured, they will be teleported to a Pokémon Center (PC). Trainers may store or withdraw Pokémon at a PC.
3. Full exploration of certain locations may require your Pokémon to have specific abilities. Strength and Cut are just two of the many essential abilities that will need to be learned.
4 For information about all the Pokémon in Johto & Kanto, along with where & when you can catch them, refer to the Johto Regional Pokédex.
5. Each gym leader may have their own terms for battles. Do not be surprised if gym leaders ask for one-on-one battles or doubles battles, for example.
6. Be sure to talk with locals. You never know what they might have in store!

OOC Rules

1. You may catch as many Pokémon as you want.
2. For information about what level your Pokémon is at, please refer to the first post on the IC thread.
3. Refer to Pokémon Crystal for the location of Pokémon.
— We are basing the time of day on UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
