I listen to music, think of a scene, start from there. I've created entire worlds around scenes.

That was pretty tame as far as my arguments go, I've been in worse and not had any trouble with getting along with people outside the thread.

Jack stared down the barrel of an AK-47, (his AK-47), the bayonet just a centimeter or so from his gasmask, almost puncturing a hole in it. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind and make sense of it all. The smell of warm, worn rubber comforted him and blocked out any trace of the dank stench of the tunnels around him, or the blood that had splashed onto him from kill after kill. It was supposed to be easy, killing Them. This one made it impossible, though. After a long chase, he ended up pinned to the ground, then he was in the position he was in now: crouched and staring up at It.

Comfort zones aren't necessarily bad. They're comfortable.

*ahem* My name is Ireland and I am analcoholicdrug lordserial killergrim and dark writer. My writings consist of some high fantasy, as well as Steampunk and other short stories. I love Batman. I hate Justin Beiber, Twilight and the Supercommittee.
I usually write with a grim and dark tone, that involves shitty houses, shitty jobs, shit-covered people, and other things that make up a dystopia. Utopias are barely ever on my list of stories, and my stories will involve magic, steam, corruption in politics and law enforcement, some type of mystical being, some type of vigilante and action scenes. Oh, and erotic scenes.

Yes, My style has changed in the time it took me to write the first hundred, and I did take a two month pause on the book.
I do have many other plans for novels, such as:
-A collection book of eight exotic ends to the planet Earth
-A six part war story (I've only planned the first and last parts)
-A three-part story (even though they aren't related) about an alternate earth (like steam punk retropunk, etc.)
-A book about a revolution in the USA, and what happens after.
I have so many ideas that are floating around in my head. Most will never be realized on paper, but I still take pride in them. They might not be any good either, but, I thought I would tell others about them, because, hey, I can.

I'm CM, and I'm a fantasy writer. Mostly low fantasy, I find constructed worlds allow me the freedom to explore human emotions and ideas without the constraint of currently existing structures or pre-set biases.
I like dark antiheroes that are neither brooding and whiny nor cheerfully psychopathic. I like to create full characters, not mere plot devices, characters that think, laugh, cry, feel, and most importantly, live. I don't like creating characters that exist solely for the story, I like creating characters that have true lives beyond a simple plotline. I'm somewhat uncomfortable with matters of a sexual nature, but my characters usually aren't. This usually ends up in a shaky compromise where I acknowledge what happens while skipping out on any erotic scenes.

Funny wrote:Madeline didn't wait for an answer. She'd grabbed Sage's baseball bat, and was now headed up the stairs of their little Virginia home. She peeked around a corner, and immediately pulled her head back. She'd seen... a shadow of some sort, and it was coming from her bedroom! A million different scenarios played out in her head. Rapist. Axe-murderer. Jaywalker. Slowly, slowly she crept down the hallway, and jumped into the room, swinging her baseball bat wildly and screaming.
There was... a rather fabulous man standing there, who smelt of smoke and perfume. He had no shirt, and, oddly enough, no belly button, either. He held a plate of Cherries Jubilee in his hands, and suddenly screamed back, "WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING AT ME, WOMAN!? IS CHERRIES JUBILEE TRULY THAT FRIGHTENING!?"
Funny Imagery wrote:You know how French police cars make that annoying "WEE-WA-WEE-WA-WEE-WA" sound with their sirens?
Wanna know what sound they make when driven down a Paris street by an insane faerie? It's not really a sound that can be transcribed in writing, but if you can mentally imagine the sound a mechanical whale makes when sat on by Mount Rushmore, it's something like that. But only if said whale is honking madly and yelling for everyone to 'Get the HONK out of the way!' I calmly finished my espresso, and extended my hand as the police car screeched to a halt

When I ask you to picture stars,
what do you see?
White pinpricks on an empty black field?
But stars are so much more.
Stars are beautiful, colorful things, burning impossibly bright.
Burning with the heat of creation.
Go out into a place with no street lights,
late at night and far from the city.
Look up in the sky and you'll see
a billion crystal droplets winking at you from a million light-years away.
Look to the stars and you'll find
that the space between is anything but an empty black field.
They fill space's furthest reaches with fiery yellows and reds and blues,
as they fuse hydrogen into helium.
Some travel alone, while some travel in pairs or even threes or fours.
They cluster into great milky galaxies: ellipticals, spirals, and rings.
There are big stars and small stars, bright stars and dim stars.
Stars that have just formed, stars that are incredibly ancient.
Some lucky few might even have satellites,
little planets that waltz with them through outer space.
There are rocky ones and gassy ones,
big ones and tiny ones.
Some have rings and some have moons.
Some have both.
And then there are a choice, choice few stars,
that have one perfect planet.
It's not too hot, and it's not too cold.
It's just right, like baby bear's porridge.
There's an abundance of water,
and the weather is mild (astronomically speaking).
Once in a while, you'll get a planet that orbits a star.
And that planet has life.
When I ask you to picture stars,
what do you see now?
Is it still white pinpricks on an empty black field,
or is it something more?
Are stars not beautiful?
I love stars.
