High Council Chambers, Caltris

Chancellor Eames looked grim as he saw his best friend across him in chains as the Tribunal commenced. Yalij had recused himself from the tribunal because he was remarkably shaken and he seemed to be a complete train wreck of emotions at the idea of Maven being executed for what he believed in. Maven was like a father to him, and Yalij found his ability to bring the best out of the worst people to be remarkable. He was even able to tame an unbidden, and Yalij truly believed the unbidden did not try to kill Maven, but Maven would not say a word about his attempted assassination. Yalij was completely loyal to Maven, whether he was working with an unbidden or not. The High Council was there in support of Maven along with many of his well-wishers, but the Uncorruptible Tribunal was not under the High Council. Yalij Dontoth, Ralia Norton, Jurgen Mardoc, Eryeil Nendis, Tristal Muller, Justine Macral, Riel Mastai, Oyelia Pontroff and Treagan Markoff were the ones who were called to the Tribunal to judge, and the fact that Yalij could not bear to undergo the tribunal meant that Maven's biggest advocate was not there on the judging desk, and the fact that Representative Nendis was judging Maven was a very grim situation for him indeed. Chancellor Eames tried his best to get Yalij back into the tribunal, but when he did, Maven spoke for the first time in a while with his powerful voice and he warmly said to Yalij, "By simply being there for me you have done more than anyone could ask of you, Yalij." With his usual gentle comforting smile. This made Eames very, very nervous for Maven.

Does he somehow desire to die? Eames thought as he sat in his seat. Or does old Maven have something hidden up his sleeves, since he is much the magician he always seemed to be. Maven is a cunning man with no desire to give into someone else's ideals of justice, so he must have brought something to the tribunal that will save himself. He has to.

Maven still gave Yalij a comforting smile as he waited for Maddy to enter the room. He waited but he did not see her which made his smile slightly become tinted with sadness.

"By the oversight of our Lord Fornt, I hearby declare this Tribunal session open. We are here to discuss the alleged charges of the corruption of Maven Auryn, the High Chancellor of the Beastling states and Representative of Caltris. We who know of the dangers of Corruption more than anyone else know that the sentence for Corruption and Treason is the Ceremony of Purification." Eryeil Nendis said clearly in a satisfied voice.

Pah! Purification. Chancellor Eames thought. The Public execution of the much beloved High Chancellor would hardly qualify for any sort of pure act.

"The purity of heart, mind, and spirit is represented by words, thoughts, and actions. Maven Auryn, Every sentient being is responsible for their own words, thoughts, and actions and are obligated by law not to willingly commit harm to another sentient being with greed, hatred, or ignorance as a motivation." Jurgen recited the religious texts as he looked at Maven in disbelief. Never once did he think, not even in the war where Maven had killed men, not once did he think that Maven was corrupt.

"I promise with my full heart that I have not acted in hatred, greed, and that I am aware of every consequence of my actions." Maven recited as he put his hand over his heart and bowed.

"Be seated Maven," Justine said with a sincere nod. "We shall review the evidence against you and you are free to interject or have a Defense mediator speak on your behalf."

"Though it is said that the person who mediates on his own behalf is a fool, I'd be more foolish to have someone else speak on behalf of me, so I'd prefer to be a fool." Maven said with a smile to Justine who somehow didn't seem very amused. She frowned as Maven was released from his bonds.

"Maven Auryn, you have been accused of having provided shelter for, communicated with, and conspired with an unbidden. You have been accused of starting wars with the Order of the Flame, and the Dwarven Kingdom, putting our people in grave danger. You have shown complete and total disregard to holy law, and have been accused of blasphemy, and apostasy." Once his accusations were read Maven couldn't help but chuckle as he thought about the sheer absurdity of the situation. He bowed as the Rod of Judgment was raised over his head.

"Maven Auryn, do you believe in and continue to believe in the Gods, and the redemptive power of the Lord of Justice?"Justine asked Maven as the Rod of Judgement glowed the deep blue over his head.

"I do." The color remained unchanged.

"Did you provided shelter for, communicate with, and conspire with an unbidden?" She asked as the sword still stayed blue.

"I did." There was an outcry in the courtroom and it fell into disorder.

ORDER ORDER IN THE COURT! I CALL THIS COURT TO ORDER! Eryeil Nendis shouted as Maven smiled watching the uproar happen and he held his hand up to silence the court and it became silent. Maven still had the respect of the people and strangely he had the charisma and power in his voice as normal as he did before.

"When I became a Minister, I promised that I would treat all sentient beings equally with the love and compassion of a father. ' All reasoned beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act kindly towards one another in a spirit of goodness. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in these laws, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, blood type, or any other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the Nation or State to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty' These are words of the Law and those given to us by our Lord Fornt, our true father of Justice, and these I hold close to my heart, and if these laws are deemed impure then kill me here and now. There is no words in the holy law that state 'unbidden are an exception' and I will not deny the fact that I have found that the Unbidden are indeed reasoned beings."

"Reasoned beings? What proof do you have of these claims Maven?" Riel Mastai asked curiously as she adjusted her necklace. "No unbidden has ever attempted to reason with the bidden in all the ages past, and the same it is today. What proof have you that the unbidden possess the capacity to reason?"

"I have experienced a sapient unbidden. He possessed strengths of wisdom and knowledge, the ability to think of new and productive ways to conceptualize and do things. I have seen this unbidden create things with his own hands with taking an interest in experience for its own sake by exploring and discovering new things exercising judgment and thinking things through and examining them from all sides; weighing all evidence fairly with a sheer love of learning and mastering new skills, topics, and bodies of knowledge, on his own. He was able to show love and concern, and valued the close relations with others, in particular those in which sharing and caring are reciprocated, he was able to perform good deeds for others of his own volition showing his awareness of the motives and feelings of other people and himself. He showed immense loyalty to me and when he believed I was in danger he came to my aide. He also appreciated wonder and beauty and liked to laugh and tease and bring smiles to others. If this isn't the work of a reasoned being then I declare myself unreasoned and unbidden and ask that you slay me." Maven said as he looked at the sword which stayed blue and there was once again an uproar.

ORDER ORDER IN THE COURT! I CALL THIS COURT TO ORDER! Eryeil Nendis shouted as Maven smiled satisfied with the uproar he created. Because he spoke the truth and the rod never lies, he was surprised when he was chained and dragged out of the tribunal and locked up.

Maven sat in the cold prison as he looked through the bars watching the snow fall. He tried to stay warm, but the satisfaction from Councilwoman Eryeil Nendis's horrified face was enough to make him feel satisfied with his predicament. Now the whole world would know.

The Unbidden are reasoned.

Next to Maven, a dark circle etched itself on the ground, slowly and with a noise like nails on a chalkboard but quiet as a shadow, a triangle filling within it, inscribed inside the circle. They hissed with black flame, and then a hand, skeletal and obviously-inhuman reached up, grabbing the earth in the dungeon as if for dear life, and pulled upwards. It was followed by an arm, then another hand, then finally the head of the thing pulled through, skin stretched tight over the bone, pale, thin body, and matchstick legs. The hunched-over Thrall tilted its head at Maven, and spoke, in a low, hissing voice. "Hello there..."

"Well," Gundral said, a taken aback, suddely solemn. "It won't end well for either of us. Your clemency probably won't end well, and you'll be thrown in jail, facing excecution. I'll be charged for aiding a criminal, and I'll plead guilty. Then I will be disowned and dishonoured, which would end with me swearing the Slayer Oath." Gundral became more angry with each passing word of his speech. His voice grew and grew. "But that won't happen, because you WILL tell or I WILL HAVE YO-"

Fisk coughed loudly, "Gundral, I am worried for you, lýtling. It won't do you good to catch a cold or sore throat from talking so much, or so roughly."

"Do not tell me..." Gundral realized how loud he was and Fisk's reasoning. He stumbled over his words, trying to recover. "er That I'll get a cold. I am a dwarf." He turned back to Jabrill. "You will talk."

Okay so I realized that I talk different than most people. Here is a helpful spoiler for some of the words I use that you don't recognize(This will be updated as I find more words that I use that people don't understand, usually from them asking me what it is)
new fish - someone he feels is noobish or little better than a rookie, not worthy of his attention or recognition.
jack - (in context with numbers) 75
lýtling - slightly better than a new fish; it shows acknowledgement in regards that the person may be of use in the future for him.
dead soldier - a drink, usually alcholic in nature(a umbrella meaning for a draught of alcohol)
tapster - bartender or barkeep
gaspers - cigarettes
Devil's rope - Barbed wire
Draught - container for drinking

Maven looked at the thrall with ambivalence. He had already met one assassination attempt with a smile on his face, he looked at the court which would decide whether he was to live or die with a smile, and so to be faced with an unbidden thrall and give them a warm smile was something that Maven just had the potential of doing.

"Well met. I don't suppose you're here to enjoy a cup of tea? Sadly I'm afraid I'm a terrible host at the moment. Given circumstances aside." he said with a chuckle as the wind still blew into the bars and he shivered from the cold. "So since I doubt that you're here for a cup of Earl Grey or Oolong I'm supposing you've come for me specifically. So what can I do for you aside from die? I say so because that would be rather unpleasant." He said with a chuckle.

It nodded slowly. "I have but one purpose, to convey a message. Should you be freed, there's a certain... mage... who would like to talk with you. Because of your testimony." It nodded, and then tapped on the circle, which 'opened', the black spreading and revealing, for a short glimpse, a world of skulls, bones, and weapons arranged into landscapes, populated by the many types of Ghoul. It slunk into it, and returned a moment later, handing Maven a small vial. "If you want to get out... ah... illegally, it's full of our ichor. Corrosive, you see." Then it slipped inside the circle, which closed, leaving only a trio of scratches in the shape of a triangle behind it.

Jabrill nodded and felt the guilt upon him grow.

I can't let him take the fall for me. That would be too much on me. It's already too much on me. The pressure is unbearable! Gaaah! Jabrill was agitated as he felt like punching something but resisted the urge.

"I will talk..." Jabrill said grimly

But I'm still a dead man. he thought as he dreaded the Hands of Fate's reaction. The secret was out, and the City Guard and the Hands of Fate were now clearly his enemy.

"I thank you for your kindness." Maven said as he once again was struck with certainty. "Where can I meet him?"

They are reasoned beings. I'm sure of it. There is no way that they could be non-reasoned. He thought as he cradled the ichor in his hand. Should I escape? It is true that I am innocent, by reason of the Rod of Judgment, but I doubt that they will spare my life at this rate. I am still guilty of treason. I would also be adding guilt and doubt if I escaped. Perhaps it would be best if I didn't escape, but instead if I go to meet the mage and return, I will be able to speak with him, and when I return I will have not given them any reason to have them charge me with another crime. I would be completely at their mercies again proving my complicity with the law.

Maven used the Ichor to release the lock from his window and dove out the window freefalling for a moment before breaking his fall with his wings and flying up still keeping eye contact with the Thrall.

Where does the mage desire to meet me I wonder? I must hurry before they discover I am gone... where is he?

A small 'pop' sounded, and a searing flash of black-colored light flared in front of Maven before lowering to a normal, lower light level equivalent to that of a half-moon behind cloud cover, bobbing, seeming to want Maven to follow it. If Maven did, it would lead him around, then down and to a small, sheltered cave in which Dar'khan was residing, hidden behind a large copse of trees.

Dar'khan smiled as the Thrall reported success, then looked at the three Arcanghouls playing some card game with stylized skulls for chips. He would never understand how they became that intelligent, or where got the chips, but oh well. It made them happy.

In an alley between a pair of shops, Jeremiah could, just barely, glimpse a black, scorched image of a triangle inscribed within a circle - a clear sign of black magic.

As Jeremiah put a hand on it, it hissed and sputtered, ropes of black fire wrapping around his hand as it seemed to open, becoming black as a moonless, starless night, and tried to pull him into the blackness. "Come... join us..." a quiet voice hissed.

Maven had followed the trail and entered the wood as he approached Dark'han with confidence. He was unarmed but he knew that the Unbidden had no desire to harm him or he would not have released him. This was not the act of someone who wanted to assassinate him.

"Well met. I suppose you are the Mage to whom I owe this appreciation of the fresh air?" He said while he shivered from the cold. He was slowly but surely freezing to death because the prison clothing was limited, and he didn't have his monocle and so his field of vision was limited. Maven was still however clearly and proudly standing before Dark'han.

The voice hissed again, the pull slow, steady, almost comforting, in a way. "You will live forever, in power and in health, unable to die, unable to be taken down, you will join Legion."

----

Dar'khan nodded, and smiled the kindly smile of the elderly. "Yes, that would be me." He beckoned with a finger to the Arcanghouls behind him, and one stepped forward with a robe lined with fur, a strange black-and-grey matted kind, that seemed slightly off. "I apologize, but this is from the Ghouls' place, so it's not... ah... humane? I'm unsure of the word." The Arcanghoul offered the robe to Maven, leaving the Arcanghoul in simple platemail, while his two compatriots seemed to be laughing at him for having to share.

"You are most kind. I thank you for your kindness." Maven said as he put on the coat, feeling the warmth for the first time in a while. He felt like it would be soon that sickness would come for him.

"I am here, I wish to know what you desire from me. I hate having to get to the point, but I am supposed to be in prison, and I will have to return there with haste before they discover that I have escaped." Maven said as he hid his sense of pain from the cold.

How long will it be before I will be brought back before the tribunal for my sentence I wonder...?

Dariken and his stolen airship had finally reached their destination- a single mountian, with a lighthouse like structure on top, near the Changeling Empire's border. The structure was a blackish gray color like dark concrete, but part of it had crumbled and fallen. For the most part, it did look stable to some point. But the thing was this was going to be Dariken home for some time as he tries to fix it up, it wouldn't be an easy task. This was his only way (without having all of the artifacts) to find the flower of Zaiden. Dariken docked the airship, and set off to work on his lighthouse like tower.

How long do you think it is going to take to fix this up. No idea, prehaps a couple of weeks or a month just to fix and rebuild the device. Going to be a long time. Do you think your imaginary girlfriend might come wondering up here? Shut up, Isy.
How did I get this gay?

Somehow, the circle seemed to shrug. "You don't. But if I'm not, then everyone could live. You wouldn't have to worry about cruel people, because you would not let them live forever. If you are cruel, you die. You could act as a god."

---

Dar'khan nodded. "Frankly, I didn't expect that kind of responsibility. But no matter. I wished to thank you for what you have done so far for us... and to plead that you continue. I simply want a homeland for my people, and yet, whenever we settle down, we are attacked viciously and for no real cause."

Jeremiah sighed and took a deep breath and entered the black circle...

A Werewolf approached Dar'khan.

"Lady Nirdasil needs to see you, Sir," he replied, "and she seems very distressed."

(This is in case you missed my previous post when Nirdasil called for you)

(( Ah, thank you, I did miss it! ))

Dar'khan spun, and bowed to the Werewolf. "I apologize, Maven, but I must go now. Pressing matters." The Arcanghoul reached for the robe, plucking it from Maven's shoulders as the other two pocketed the cards and stylized skulls, turning to the werewolf as they broke camp in a matter of seconds. "Where?" Dar'khan asked quietly, looking intently at the Werewolf as he was hoisted onto the back of the third Arcanghoul - the one that recently recovered its robe - and prepared for travel.

---

Jeremiah was pulled into a landscape made of skulls, and a pack of four Thralls pounced on him like hungry animals, trying to feed on his mind, body, and soul, the black circle-gate slowly closing behind him.

"In the Forest, Sir. I fear she may do something irrational..." The Werewolf admitted. "She seemed very distressed when I told her that the Red Hand had been captured by the Dwarves."

Jeremiah drew his Katana and tried to fend off the monsters from killing him, He noticed the gate was slowly closing and was going to have to decide before it was too late.
