Jeremiah gathered his team. "Were gonna do an ambush on the kidnappers, They will probably exit the caves under the cover of darkness so we will ambush them then. Get ready and keep watch" Jeremiah said

Just as the night reached it's peak a few men emerged and dragged a group of slaves pointing their crossbows at the crowd and leading them away from the caves and toward the East.

Three of Jeremiahs team had bows and aimed them at there targets which were the men with crossbows as Jeremiah and the others moved into postion.

The three archers fired. Jeremiah and the others with there Katanas out charged and attacked the slavers with furious attacks

"Because there's no need. I can tell truth from lies without torture, and I protect the realm. This is my land and this would be a pretext for another war of Attrition and I won't have it. I didn't forget when Archon Messandre allowed their spies to enter the High Council and assassinated High Chancellor Selanie, and I won't allow my lands to be subject to your inquisition as long as I have breath in my lungs. If that isn't clear enough..." He said while he looked Raren in the eyes with a smirk.

Raren smiled "You smirk now Maven, but your dirty tricks, will never find the threat that faces our front door, all they will do is keep your suit from getting dirty and if the Unbidden burn your realm to the ground because of it then we shall see that no one smiles at this situation." The Fool Raren was confident that Maven was a load. Simple really considering Maven smiled all the time showing he was a bigger idiot then Raren had thought.

He obviously did not know the power of an Inquisition or the rules that surrounded it, not to mention he smiled a tthe sugestion of it and was not afraid. A smart man would of taken it seriously but Maven, he was either insane and dumb, of just dumb. So Raren figured to give insanity some credit and say he was just dumb as even an insane person would turn his smile away after thinking about the Inquisition, as it had a significant reputation. Yet Maven was clear that such a thing would be impossible

Mari gave an annoyed look, parrying the javelin, intending to sever the head from it, while shooting a beam of concentrated moonlight toward the crossbow. Not the person. Mari didn't want to kill these men, not yet. It was better to have more than one to get information from. Although she would likely spare the young one. He had yielded, although these others had hardly played fair.

The slavers fell to the ground dead and the 5 remaining men raised their bastard swords and attacked the Samurai.

The Samurai were quick to react as they dodged there attacks and launched there own attacks back at the remaining men

For some reason the Red Hand brought out something that she feels that she must protect, and now it is clear, the Red Hand could bring her back." Maven said with that unbroken smile.

"STOP CALLING ME THE RED HAND. I'm Jabrill, okay. I'm not going to be used to drag Nirdasil out. Count me out." Jabrill said angrily with his arms crossed and his tail wagging defiantly behind him.

The kidnapper's Javelin head snapped off as the duskblade burned through the staff end burning the edges as the kidnapper recoiled and tried to snap back with the remainder of his staff. The blade continued to crackle furiously with power. As the archer fired a crossbow bolt at Mari which was burnt by the moonlight spell. They were extremely outclassed but they would have to try and hold their ground, except for the youngest kidnapper who turned and ran.

Rarenlaughed "A fool then? Very good , I am glad such as you figures out how to breath daily, yet as Jabrill mentions he will not do what you want, so there is no other clear way of finding the unbidden and I myself would not put a life in danger, as you would Maven. I am sure though innocent lives are daily write offs in your office. " Raren was no longer as angry with Maven, more pitiful and wondrous at how such one as himself rose to power. He was smart, but a fool at the same time. Many were, and insanity was a weak mans way of saying such , as true insanity bordered the fringes of all sanity and made no sense. Raren was having more fun now seeing the side of Maven that he now thought was an untrained child.

"EVERYBODY STOP!" Mari yelled out, drawing her other sword, and watching it burst aflame from a bit more magic. Intimidation was hardly needed, but scum like these deserved it. "Now. Leading me to where you keep the rest of the people you have kidnapped, then running away from that place very fast would do wonders for your lifespan. As in, lead me there, and i won't slaughter you now." She said, serious, keeping the blade from touching any plants. Forest fires would not be helpful to her cause.

It is No secret that I consider results to be more important than the means to which one gets those results. The ends do justify the means, and in this instance if we have to put Mr. Nascent in danger to lure out the omnicidal maniac that is trying to purge all the bidden races, then it is our duty to do so rather than waste lives in the Order if that answer better suits you."

Though it was no secret that Maven didn't care about the lives from the Order of the Flame. He did however care about keeping them out of his land.

"Alright, alright- let's all calm down. Thing that shouldn't have been said were said, let's refocus on the main point. I, yes, I have lost track of Mari. This eclectic group is very hard to keep track of. Mari can take care of herself- indeed its not unreasonable to assume she is safe with the Samurai. Safe enough anyway. If the Dwarves will create problems regarding Jabrill, then perhaps his Highness and Cherry should go after the Harp and, we go after Nirdasil and the Grimoire. And the Cloak also. Key to that will be tracking down this Unbidden leader, but we can do that. If Jabrill, Raren and I- and perhaps Maddy too if she'd be willing to come, she is very capable- go after her then Cherry and Gundral can go after the Harp in Dwarven lands. We meet back here when we can and work out what to do next, whether we need to track people and objects down. With Rod, Locket, Cloak, Blade and Grimoire we should be set for the next stage. Ha- we are very, very close it is hard to believe. Dispite all the complaints we have done well, all of us. By pooling resources and working together. Our failures have come because of our arguing and our narrow-mindedness in dealing with those who should be allies."

His last sentence was a little louder than the others as he glared around, then he relaxed his face a little.

"Come- let's work as allies and get this done. Move past people's old mistakes and prejudices. Everyone. We are all needed here. We must all do our tasks."

After exploring the mighty government buildings of Caltris near the Council Chambers, Maddy decided that the Judge's outfit she had adorned herself with was a bit too extravagant for her taste even though it was truly a conservative garment of high honor. "I just can't see myself wearing this everyday, but if this is what it takes to restore our lineage, so be it." She made her way back to that creepy office of Eylis's and dug through that chest again to put back on her armors she had left there earlier. Instead she decided to go with the dark set of robes that ended up being a night shadow fox stealth suit made for nimble feet. "There at least this feels a bit more familiar." Maddy did a few martial moves to get the feel for it. Then she walked out into the hall and could here a raging argument coming from Maven's chamber. Maddy made her way into the office receiving looks of who the heck are you just before she removed the face mask letting the bottom part of her face show.

Maven looked at Maddy with a softened gaze and approached with a completely different demeanor. His calculating cold gaze was gone leaving a warm proud expression.

"Eylis would be pleased to see his Maddy become such a magnificent young woman. I am so very proud myself to welcome a new judge into the high council. Let us perform a test of your true skill and knowledge of the law. Now, it is the job of the High Chancellor to promote the good and welfare of his people. It is well known that there is a war in the north narrowly made into a stalemate . To the west come free roaming barbarians who try to enslave and murder his people. His country needs allies and Lo and behold a dwarven prince comes to him declaring his need to extradite a man known to be a murderer and smuggler. The chancellor can either give the smuggler to the prince or risk war on another front. What would you propose is the best course of judgment?" Maven asked with his same gentle regard of Maddy.

"I heard that they're keeping the kidnapped people and sell them as slaves somewhere in the Taelisven Cliffsides, but I'm not sure you know where that is so we'll go there now. The slave master is heading somewhere in the human homelands trying to take them to the gladiatorial arena." The kidnapper with the scar said as he got up and walked north.

The group of kidnappers led Mari to an area which led to a small farming village which seemed to be ending their day of harvesting the last Shaei fruits before winter. An old man was sitting by the bench with a lantern as night filled the whole village with cold air. The snow had finally began to fall.

The slavers were dead. Jeremiah rounded up the slaves he got with his team and started there move back to the village and unchained the slaves and decided to get them to the villiage for food and water

Dar'khan frowned, and kept looking in the town - searching for the foxkin. He started at the coffee house; and from there followed the emotions.

Jabrill headed away from the council building needing to take a break from the people who were trying to debate on whether it was his fate to keep on going with the mission or to be sent to Terradin for execution. Neither of them sounded good to begin with, but he just needed a breath of fresh air. He saw Dar'khan emerging from the coffee house and watched a bit away not sure if he knew that when he saved Nirdasil, he saved her from her own conjured unbidden. Or so he thought. He had no idea Dar'khan was unbidden at all and he watched him and tried to get his attention.

"Hey, you! I never got your name." Jabrill said with a smile and a wave.

Dar'khan smiled. Found him. "Oh, sorry about that. It's Samuel." He smiled kindly. "I heard an interesting story today, Mmn. Do you know the legend of Zaiden's relics?"

"This town is one of the easiest ways to pass through from the Beastling homelands to the Human ones. There's also cliffsides that have lots of caves to hold the captives." the scarred kidnapper said.

Up ahead the slave captives were being given food and the old man watches as Madame Lucine and Jeremiah and his Samurai return successful from freeing the slaves, but it is clear that there's much more to one group of slaves. Jeremiah and Mari may just have found the slaver highway.

Former Captain Albrect Vittlebacht of the Drakensvald militia walked through the streets of Caltris. So far his day had been terrible. Not ten minutes ago he had had to kill his own horse after it had broken its leg in several places. Right now he was just looking for a place to stay for a few hours. After a few minutes of serching, Albrect saw a tavern and decided to go in and see if had any rooms. Even if they didn't at the least he would be able to ask if there was anywhere that did. He made his way in and immediatly noticed what seemed to be a fight waiting to happen between a dwarf and a knight. He shook his head. 'Typical.' He thought and made his way to an empty seat. He just needed a few moments rest. Ever since he had been discharged from the militia he had felt tired most of the time. It was to be expected. He had put every ounce of his being into the militia, to make them a force to proud of.

"At least I was able to do that." He said to himself quietly.

If you want what is best, then surely it follows that you will help to save this world. Please, your Highness, let it go. Jabrill is not a threat to your society. The Unbidden are. Enough of this quest for vengence- work instead to this world's redemption. If nothing else, when the flower is found you get a chance to renegotiate Jabrill's status. Finding and recovering these relics brings that point in time closer. Obstructing this mission means you get left unsatisfied longer. Stop resenting me for stating the legal facts, sir. And do not view me as an enemy when their are readl dangers to be fought. Dnagers to the Dwarven people. Moreover, I have no wish to make an enemy out of you. I would far rather be an ally."
