Postby Mesoland » Sun Jul 10, 2011 8:13 am

This is the RP for the New Breakup of the USA. For full details and signups/OOC, visit the OOC thread here-

OK, so, it's pretty obvious. This is where you can start the fun part. Invade other states, hold elections, send letters between leaders, anything IC.

Please Remember these rules:

No Godmodding
Keep OOC to a minimum in this thread
No arguing/trolling/flaming/flamebaiting
Just in case we get infested in this thread, or the OOC, DNFTT!!!!

Otherwise, have fun, and hopefully we'll all have a good time!

Olympia, The Union of Washington

The sun rose over south Puget Sound, illuminating the state capital. Just yesterday, The Union of Washington had broken free from the United States, from the final bill of the President. All over Washington a new age was coming- a glorious age of freedom and prosperity. Governer Rochette was now sovereign over the state, until a new leader/goverement was elected from the people. In Seattle, joyous celebrations were taking place. The day of independence had come!

Two leaders were both running for office as Minister of the Union of Washington- Sarah Crain, was a member of the Capitalistic Republican party, and wanted Washingtonians to have the freedom of speech, while encouraging nationwide trade with other nation-states, such as Hawaii, California, and Oregon. Jake Bartolloti was a member of the Democratic Socialists party, and he wanted all Washingtonians to have equal rights, such as legalizing gay marriage. Both canidates were getting ready for a trip around Puget Sound, to voice their beliefs to the people.

Sarah Crain quickly boarded her ferry en route to Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island. There, she would recite a speech to a crowd of 500 people. Sarah nervously read her speech over and over again, making sure she had everything right. Finally, the ferry arrived at Oak Harbor. She then went to the Town Square and began her speech.

"Proud Washingtonians, I am Sarah Crain, born and raised in the small farming community of Stanwood Washington. I am here to announce my beliefs- my opinions in which I think would change our new Union for the better. Capitalism is the way to go for us. Trading with other nation-states, like California, would improve our economy, and stabilize our stand in the world-wide economy. I feel sad for our people, as because the freedom of speech has over the years degraded. I stand to make freedom of speech Washington's most proud right!"

The audience clapped as Sarah Crain left the podium.

March 2025
New Orleans
The Kingdom of Louisiana

Independence at last!
For 222 this great nation had been part of the USA. The former Governor had resigned and a King had been chosen Charles Duke of Strasbourg the head of the house of Orleans (soon to be Charles III.) He had come from France and arrived a few hours after independence. He installed the former governor Philip Marcovo to be head of government or Minister of State. The 3 main parties became 1.) The Democratic Party 2.) The Libertarian Party and 3.) The National Party. (aka the Republican party.) The Senate was composed of 100 elected members and the Parliament (aka The House of Representatives.) The new flag was the flag of New Orleans and the anthem became the old Royalist French National Anthem. The first scheduled election began noon with a suspected win for the Democrats.

The air was eerily still. Anticipation wafted around the city; the whole state. It was 11:59 in Portland, and a banner flew in the wind, from the Wells Fargo Tower; OREGON ALONE! it read. As clocks across the city struck 12, an eruption of fireworks exploded from the Bancorp Building's rooftop. They screamed, and crackled and wailed as they soared through the sky, sending crimson and azure and gold delight into the air. A roar came from the crowd below, as the fireworks continued for a whole half hour, until the air was silent again. The new nation of Oregon had been born, and the nation of 5,000,000 would awake to a new life.

In the Gus J. Solomon US Courthouse, the carpenters were replacing the USA signs with Oregon signs, the courthouse was being renamed, everything. Across the country, in the dead of night, Oregon was replacing USA. The new site for the Oregon Presidential/Governmental was being cleared and set up for construction already. For now, President Carforn and co. would have to use part of the Wells Fargo Tower as their HQ; the offices they needed, most of the bottom half of the building, were at that moment being renovated for the new occupation, for upto 3 years.

The 2 candidates for the Presidency, Evan Preston (OOC:ring a bell, Condunum?), a Democrat, and Jamil Alvez, a Republican were up at 2 o'clock that morning, for a meeting that was to last for 12 hours. They would be then rallying for support across the country for the elections, required by international law. It was a new Oregon. A new world!

THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF HAWAII
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono

On Behalf Of: Queen Liliʻuokalani II
Property of the Hawaiian Queen

From:Kuhina Nui-Governor Jeremy Hensley
To: The former states of the United States; International community

Subject: Hawaiian Declaration of Independence
Do Not Replicate; Message ID #00003

ON BEHALF OF HER MAJESTY, Queen Liliuokalani, Queen of the Hawaiian islands, I, Kuhina Nue-Governor Jeremy Hensley, do hereby affirm the independence of the Independent State of Hawaii, as given precedent by the Congressional Breakup Bill, Bill Nos: 2025 Bill No.11. We, as Hawaiians, in an effort to separate ourselves from the former United States and to seek prosperity and strength through independence, do now seek self determination in our pacific homeland. We shall not seek to make advances on former United States continental soil as a policy, and shall continue with the knowledge that our former government is to thank for this newly discovered self determination, and for this we are grateful, but we must secede to expand our wealth, strength and culture.

To any remnants of the United States Government or United States Military, we Hawaiians do make this proclamation; All federal property once held in trust by the United States Federal Government is now the sovereign property of Hawaii, her people and her Queen, including but not limited to all national parks, shipyards, naval vessels, military installations, governmental buildings, and et cetera. Due to our secession, we shall assume these former United States Government properties are now Hawaiian, and shall maintain them as such without interference. Any attempts by United States Federal remnants or others to requisition this property shall be met with due force if deemed necessary.

To all states following the path of Hawaii in this trying time for North America and, indeed, the world, I issue this warning; The Independent State of Hawaii shall not tolerate any other secessionist attempts at annexation of the Independent State of Hawaii, or any attempted acquisition of her resources via coercion or theft. This shall also be met with due force as is required.

Finally, to all states who are willing, we, the trusted guides of the Hawaiian people, would accept contracts of trade, alliance, or nonaggression in the future, as a mode of reaffirming, to some extent, the bond our states once held as members of the same nation. Note: All offers of peaceful annexation of Hawaii into any newly-formed nation state shall be denied upon arrival. All unannounced military presence in the territorial waters of Hawaii--twelve miles out, as declared by the United Nations--shall be met with warning fire and, if left unresponsive and possibly hostile, force if deemed necessary.

We issue this declaration to the nations of the world, the former states of America, and any remnants of the United States Federal Government.

Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono!

Washington Place, Honolulu,
The Independent State of Hawaii

The Washington Place, seat of government for the Queen and Kuhina Nui-Governor in the capital city, Honolulu. This was the same house that the last Queen of Hawaii, Liliʻuokalani I, was arrested in during the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, in 1893. Now, it housed the second Queen Lili'uokalani, the new monarch of the Independent State of Hawaii.

Already, some ten thousand odd Honolulans had gathered on the lawn of the Washington Place, congregating mostly on the front with the balcony, where three flags rested; the Hawaiian state flag, to the left, below the United States flag, raised above the other two, and the Hawaiian Governor's Standard, to the lower right of the United States flag.

Just then, thunderous applause, as cameras from the local news agencies turned to face the balcony, where Kuhina Nui-Governor Hensley, young and proud, and the Queen, aged and elegant, were stepping out from the doors that led to the lounge of the Washington Place.

The formation of the new government of Hawaii was, quite frankly, to simple for words. Following the federal destruction of the government of America, Jeremy Hensley, a half-Hawaiian, half Japanese governor, stepped up to create order in the small state. He commanded the National Guard to move to annex the Federal property in the state, and quickly organized a council, made up of local representatives and former senators and congressmen, to decide upon the new government. It was decided, not three days prior, that the monarchy was to be restored, under a de facto constitution that was to be written following the stabilization of the nation. The heir to the last queen of Hawaii was found, a rural woman with simple qualities that made her suitable for a beloved figurehead position, and the nation created. The Provisional Council was renamed the Hawaiian Congress, and seven representatives--one from each of the inhabited islands of the Hawaiian chain--were elected by popular vote to form the Congress, cutting the number down from twenty to eight, including the Kuhina Nui-Governor. A rule was placed for draws; All ties were to be broken by the Queen. Quite a simple system that was expected to work, but it was all the Governor could create on such short notice.

Now, the declaration was to be made official. The declaration of independence sent around the world, all that was required was to stamp a celebration to it. The queen moved slowly, her body weak due to her age of sixty one, assisted by her son, Crown Prince Mano, the heir to the reformed house of Kalakaua, to the flagpoles that hung over the people below her. The crowd was filled with silence as she reached over, steadily watched over by her son, and removed the American flag from its place, handing it to Hensley. She then timidly grabbed the Hawaiian state flag, removing it from its base and placing it in the former position of the United States flag. The crowd burst into applause, which continued as the new Royal Standard was placed in the position the Hawaiian state flag once occupied.

The Queen and Kukina Nui-Governor shook hands, kissing lightly on the cheeks as a sign of familiarity. Then, a microphone was placed before the Queen, who greeted motherly, "Aloha, kamali`i." The crowed replied, "Aloha, mo`i." It seemed that even the non-Hawaiian native citizens knew this simple Hawaiian phrase. The Queen continued slowly, "I am honored to, on behalf of the house of Kalakaua, establish the Independent State of Hawaii, as a new, strong nation, rising like a new sunrise on the watery horizon. May this day of Hawaii never set." She moved back as the light applause replied to her, and the Governor moved in.

"I repeat the sentiments of our good Queen, Lili'uokalani II, that this day marks the rise of our new nation, and I vow to die before it falls. We Hawaiians are a strong people, such that even when we were conquered by the mainlanders, we remained fiercely independent, holding tight to our traditions, culture and language. Even those who do not share native Hawaiian ancestry have taken up these traditions. We are a unified people, a unified nation, that shall not fall idly. I promise to you, as your elected leader by the Hawaiian Congress, that our nation shall remain strong in the face of all adversity and troubles, and prosper in times of growth and wealth. Go in peace with love of others and of Hawaii in your hearts, Hawaiians. Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono!" A rifle platoon fired off blanks into the sky, as the crowd cheered and the leaders of this new, island nation retreated back into the lounge.

A new, island nation was born.

Seattle, Washington

In the dead of noon a Washingtonian flag was hoisted over the Space Needle, and the Columbia Tower. 1,150 Washingtonians waited anxiously in Pioneer square for Jake Bartolloti's speech. Governer Rochette herself was attending the speech. Jake Bartolloti slowly walked up to the podium, and began his speech.

"My dear Washingtonians, I was born and raised in this city- Seattle. I share a personal connection with each and every one of you. I know what it means to be a Washingtonian. To be proud, to be United. I am here for you. For everyone of us to have the right of freedom, to have equal rights!"

The cheering at that statement rang across the city, from Elliot Bay to Lake Union.

"Gays should be able to marry, to not be afraid to state who they are!"

The city erupted at that point. People took out their Washingtonian flags and began to wildly wave them around, and firecrackers burst from block to block. Meanwhile, that evening, fireworks illuminated the Space needle, casting shades of pink, gold, and blue. The next morning, voting would begin, across the nation. All US federal goverment assets would in turn belong to the Washington federal goverment.

The television cameras and microphones had been set up. The press were everywhere. Governor Christie stepped out onto the podium and everyone went silent. He stood for a minute or two, and then finally began his speech.

Ladies and Gentleman of New Jersey, today we have known sorrow and happiness. By order of the President of these Former United States, and by Congress, bill 2025 has officially disbanded the once proud United States of America. But let this not make us hold our heads down in sorrow, let us not mourn the death of a world wide superpower. For there is no reason to mourn, and yet there are many. In about twenty minutes, the flag of the former United States shall be lowered in ceremony, and the flag of the New jersey will be raised. We are indefinitely a nation now, and so we must start to act like one.

Our -- I mean, the founding fathers of America had a dream. And that dream was to create a new nation. Free from oppression and tyranny. Gone from the costs of war, and free from their oppressors. They knew that this nation would prosper, just as the emblem on the back of Benjamin Franklin's chair described. The scene of a rising sun. The birth of a new nation. And that it was is happening here, today, as we speak. Right now I am tuned into every television in New Jersey. My people, let me assure you that we are not alone. There are many other new nations that will struggle to find their place in this vast continent. There is no reassurance of anything at this time, but let me tell you that we are ready for anything.

New Jersey -- as a state, helped to found the United States of America, and during the war of 1812, we reunited the nation by fighting together against the British enemy. Well, I say we need to unite again. Whether that be through alliance or conflict, tears or happiness, pain or joy. We are a democracy, and as such we will hold fair elections. We will not falter from the principles that we have known our whole lives; freedom, prosperity, free speech. I would like to state that the Amendments of the former United States will be altered and changed to fit New Jersey's need to survive.

Together we can achieve great things. But divided, we will only fall. We, as a people, must unite under the banner of New Jersey. We cannot stand divided, now, for it will only mean our own destruction. Together, New Jersey, we will succeed! As a necessary adjustment to the new circumstances of our time, we will be re-commissioning the U.S.S New Jersey. She is still a sea-worthy vessel, and can be put to excellent use. All boating vehicles that are over 45 feet will be commandeered for military use. That also goes for any and all automatic weapons. That is all, goodnight ladies and gentleman. And awake to a new dawn, and a new beginning.

After his speech, fireworks went off commemorating the new birth of a nation. The flag of New Jersey was raised and the nation erupted in cheering and celebrations in the streets.

Columbia

The entire situation had Jakson's head spinning. He was made president by popular order in a very hasty election. The elections had no set up for a legislative committee, but Jakson, having seen what he considered to be over use of power by one man, drew up a new Charter with the former General Assembly of Maryland.

The Charter of the People of New Maryland
Image

We, the free people of New Maryland, do hereby recognize the need for a system of government, as stable as any should be, as controlled as need be to preserve the freedom if it's people, and as strong as need be to conserve the borders and sovereignty of it's people.

The Congress of New Maryland:
The people of New Maryland do recognize the strength of the Congress of old, and declare that it shall hold as the representative body of the people of New Maryland. However, some changes are to be noted.
i. The Senate of New Maryland shall be a body of only 50 Senators. Two shall represent each county, which will hereby be known as states, to account for 48 of said members. The remaining two shall be the representation of Baltimore City.
ii. The House of Delegates of New Maryland shall be renamed as the People's House. It shall maintain at 141 representative members.
iii. Each Senator and Delegate shall be required to be a resident of New Maryland for two years. This shall include people who have resided in New Maryland prior to it's succession from the country of old. Native birth shall not be required for eligibility to the Senate or People's House.
iv. The People of New Maryland recognize that gerrymandering was common practice in the state of Maryland, and as such, require that the borders of New Maryland representative districts be based off of population equalization, and that any attempt to push an opposing party out of power through political suppression such as gerrymandering shall be grounds for eviction from the People's House, and removal of power.

The Executive body of New Maryland:
The people of New Maryland recognize that an executive body is needed for the powers to be kept in balance. We hereby state that the Maryland executive body be the legitimate executive body of New Maryland. However, some changes are to be noted.
i. The President of New Maryland shall be elected on a five year cycle.
ii. The President of New Maryland shall be given the power of the military. However, his power shall not be extended to out-of-border actions. This power lies as a joint action between the Congress of New Maryland, and the Executive body of New Maryland.
iii. The President, if unpopular, shall be subject to removal, if a vote shall be given, resulting in a majority vote of 75% of the people of New Maryland having selected for his removal.

The Judicial body of New Maryland:
The Judicial body of New Maryland shall be the Judicial body of the Country of old. It shall receive these changes.
i. As was in the old body, the Judicial body of New Maryland shall be a group of nine supreme judges
ii. These judges shall be selected by the President of New Maryland
iii. In the event of unpopularity, they shall be subject to a vote of removal. If such a vote is successful, the people of New Maryland shall elect from a group of Judges-to-be, selected by the president.

The Bill of Rights:
The Bill of Rights shall be that of the country of old, and shall not have any significant changes. However, all amendments concerning the grants of freedoms to the people of old shall be part of this new Bill of Rights. This shall include, but is not limited to, slavery, marriage rights, universal suffrage, universal rights, etc.

The Charter of New Maryland shall not be a permanent charter. In the event of a vote of the people determining that they wish for a new charter, it shall be given. Also, amendments may be made to the Constitution of the people of New Maryland

Jakson, after having returned to his own chambers, prepared for the inevitable international tensions, debates, relationships, etc. that shall follow this split.

As governor Christie returned to his chambers, he suddenly came up with an ingenious idea. Immediately he started drafting the bill, and maybe what was to come was the first step in the right direction.

The First Bill of New Jersey

Article 1

- All debt from the government of New Jersey is hereby diminished. The nation now owes exactly $0.00, to avoid being further in economic crisis. This bill will effectively eliminate any and all debt. This will put New Jersey on a new course for economic recovery and growth, allowing the safe recovery for our people.

Article 2

- All funds in the Treasury of the State of New Jersey are hereby transferred into the Treasury of the Nation of New Jersey. All funds will become surplus. Any and all debt owed by the State are now void.

Article 3

- All large corporations based in New Jersey (any corporation making $50,000,000.00 a year) will be forced to give mandatory payments to the Federal Government of New Jersey. This will help to gain surplus in the nation and to prevent further economic collapse.

Signed,

President Chris Christie

OOC: please note this is all I could come up with, I tired my best to expand it.

The state of Idaho was actually prepared to be seperated, they had their abundant sources of food, and water. This would severely limit their dependancy on other nations, which is something many of the Idahoans loved. With this, and there still ever abundant national forests and lakes, they could draw in a lot of foreign tourism.

Jackston had been put into office rather quickly by an emergency election, too quickly if you were to ask him, but he still took that time as an advantage. He knew that if order were to be kept, then he would have to re-instablish the old Idaho State Constitution as the new National Constitution, enter into a state of negotiations with surrounding Government, and begin trade relations with them aswell. He knew he had to do everything in his power to keep the people of Old Idaho together. With that he wrote up a letter to be delivered to the surrounding nations.

From:Old Idaho
We the people of Old Idaho would like to extend a formal invitation to negotiations for the establishment of foreign trade relations. We would be more than happy to host these negotiations or to take part in them in another nation. We do our best to uphold the sancitity of te U.S. of old's constitution rights that have been granted to all citizens, and wish that any other nation does so aswell.

For a bright and prosperous future,

The Wells Fargo Building, Portland, The Republic of Oregon
Temporary President Carforn sat smiling. It was 15:00 on the first day of independence. He was in his new and temporary office in the Wells Fargo Building, on the 2nd floor. His meeting with the 2 Presidential candidates was over, and he was listening to his advisors over a conference call to discuss the Republic of Oregon's first bill. "We need to start building up our armed forces. We're in a very unstable position at the moment, Mr President. An attack could be issued from anywhere and any time. We're on the Pacific coast, jammed between California, a very large and powerful nation, Washington, which could pose a threat, and the Ocean. We're suceptible to an attack from anywhere, especially the ocean. North Korea, Russia, even Hawai'i. We don't have time to be fussing over education yet. Health, yes, but we really need the forces!" The new secretary of Defence, Marianne Rocheli protested. "I agree. Right now, we need to secure our borders and build up our military strength and prowess. Education is OK for now, and we have already spoken about the health system." The Environment secretary sighed, reluctantly agreeing. "Well, it seems we're decided. I'll discuss this with House of Representatives, and I'll get this bill passed before the elections in 3 days. Goodbye." The President said hastily, pressing the red button on his iPhone10.

Amazing how fast a world can change.

Within a single day, Nevada had grown from being almost destroyed and crippled by debt, to being completely freed of those burdens. Those debts were payable to the United States Government. There no longer was a United States government to repay loans, or to pay taxes to.

But they still needed trade. And they had the biggest trading partner in the region, right on there border.

King Campbell I was sitting in his newly furnished office in the capital city of Las Vegas. He was seeing the military march through the streets, forcing criminals to clean up and rebuild parts of the town to there former glory. The Casinos still were open, and now had many Nevadan Flags, swirling through the wind, on top of the casions all.

He opened up his email, and sent a message to the secure line that went to other former governers, currently Kings and Presidents. He sent it solely to California, the new Republic.

Hello! These are turbulent times indeed, if we've had to completely break up into two seperate countries. Grim times, indeed.

But that's not the point of this message. I would like to discuss a military alliance and trade agreement between our two nations? Our army and air force is top notch, and we'd be happy to grow our influence in the region, by your side.

What do you respond?

The next order of business that President Christie had to address was the situation of trade agreements and allies. Obviously New York would be their main target here. There was no way they can pass up the opportunity such as this. He opened his laptop and sent President Mageeh Patel.

Dear President Patel,

As these are turbulent times, and we cannot be sure of much anymore, let us both be sure of something. We would like to set up a military alliance with you, along with free trade for both parties. This will not only help boost both of our GDP's, it will immensely help our economies. With you being an economic superpower, this can not only help both of us, but the region.

Regards,

President Chris Christie

Presidential Resident, Pago-Pago, 14:00, Independence Day

"Live in 3....2....1, Now!" Shouted the T.V Producer

The President walked up to the stand, by his side was his personal adviser, former Swedish Minister of Interior Affairs and head of Swedish Intelligence, Lars Hangrik.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, today is a very proud day for American Samoa, we are no longer American Samoa, we are now the New Samoan Islands! At this very moment, we are no longer under the Control of the Corrupt, Desolate American Government, but now under control of Central Hall here in Pago-Pago!"

A large round of applause broke out through the Hall, people cheered and stamped their feet.

"A new Dawn has begun for this Most Beautiful Republic, we will lead the now un-unified nations of Former America to a age of peace, or watch it crash and burn in a war of Bitter self-hate! The NSI will stand back from all wars and skirmishes between these new nations, but slowly develope a Naval force capable of defending our shores, plus an extremely capable marine force to defend our people. I will now hand you over to Admiral Kula Mena'saal who will give you a briefing on our military status"

Applause rung out once again and a Broad shoulder man with clean shaven black hair walked onto the podium.

"Our Military status is not as good as perhaps California or New York, for we have not a large need for a big fighting force, for we are but a small island nation, our army consists of the 1st Battalion, with 1800 fully trained men accompanied by 15 tanks, supplied by the Australian Army. Our navy consists of 14 destroyers, 7 Firgates and a Squadron of small fighting vessels. In total there a 3500 sailors and 800 marines fighting aboard our boats. Our Air force consists of 5 K-11 Fighter Jets, supplied by the United Arab Emirates, plus a Squad of Pulsus Attack Heilcopters, Thank you very much for your time"

Rapturous cheering rang out. The President walked back to the Podium.

"As you will almost certainly know, all the former States have ravaged economies, but, as our economy was supported by the generous Australian Government,so we do not have the burden of rebuilding, so we have a head start on this new age from the other Former States! Long Live Samoa!"

With the dissolution of the entity known as the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania declares its independence as a soverign nation. It is also hereby declared that the state government shall resume under the same Constitution with the exception of all references to the now defunct federal government, departments, and offices, which are to be suspended for obvious reasons that should not be stated. All necessary functions previously performed by the federal government shall be transferred to various state departments.

Signed,
Governor Rendell Corbett

Rendell Corbett had been against such an abrupt break-up, but now that was the past. It's happened and there's no point in dwelling on the past.

The government of Pennsylvania had decided to remain virtually the same. Many might say that this is extreme laziness on the part of whoever's running it. I won't comment.

Lounge Room, Washington Place, Honolulu,
The Independent State of Hawaii

With the pomp and circumstance of the flag raising over with, the Kuhina Nui-Governor and the Queen met with the Hawaiian Congress in the Washington Place lounge, the Hensley bent on writing the base of the constitution for presentation in the afternoon tomorrow. This meeting was informal rather due to lack of resources than lack of trying. No official meeting place for the Congress had been decided, and as such, the representatives lacked a formal place to draft the Hawaiian Congressional Constitution. Some suggested the Honolulu Town Hall, and this was a viable option, but they had yet to move the necessary tools there, and as such, the Congress met in the Washington Place.

The Queen and her son Mano sat in two, throne-like oak chairs, as the Congressmen sat in a circle that started with the royalty. Hensley sat to the right of the Queen, due to his place as the Hawaiian head of government and practicing head of state. The seven Congressmen ordered in this way, starting to the right of Hensley and ending to the left of Mano:

Jack Holloway -- Congressman of O'ahu
Elizabeth Hiram -- Congresswoman of Hawai'i
Bamako Naihe -- Congressman of Maui
Arthur Dolerite -- Congressman of Kauaʻi
Alika Iaukea -- Congresswoman of Molokaʻi
James Wahine -- Congressman of Lānaʻi
Desmond Hale -- Congressman of Niʻihau

Officially, Hensley was the Kuhina Nui-Governor as well as the Congressman of Kahoʻolawe, though due to the fact that the island that he represented was unpopulated, the title was merely ceremonial. It was his title as Kuhina Nui-Governor that earned him a vote in the Congress, not the representation of some uninhabited island.

Hensley sat with a laptop on his lap, creating the constitution on a design program as the talks went on. So far, most things were settled, namely the executive powers, the rights of the Queen, the powers of the islands, among other things. It was now being argued how the judicial branch was to be formed. Dolerite exclaimed, "Surely, my fellows, you can see that the United States had the right idea when they formed the Supreme Court. Me can easily do the same. Nine judges, selected by Hensley and the following Kuhina Nui-Governors. Quite simple, really."

"Oh, come now, that is hardly fair." Alika responded. "I agree that nine is a fine number, but they should be elected, not selected. To select them implies tyranny, not democracy. Do you advocate a tyranny, Dolerite?" This squabbling continued on between sides until, finally, the Queen spoke up in a quiet, reserved voice.

"Perhaps, you can compromise?"

A few of the Congressmen raised an eyebrow. Dolerite was the first to respond, replying, "No offense meant, your Majesty, but this matter is best left for those who have training in the subject. Most, if not all of us here have training in political aspects, while you, again no offense meant, are a simple rural woman. Perhaps this should be left to professionals." Most Hawaiians held a deep respect for the Queen as a leader, due to her rural heritage and hard working, motherly attitude, but it always appeared that many thought her to be a symbol rather than one of the leaders, albeit a figurehead more than a practicing one.

It was Hate who spoke out in defense of the Queen, chastising the Congressman. "When you speak of our Queen in such a manner, Dolerite, you disrespect her no matter how many times you claim you mean none. Please, your Majesty, speak. Let us hear this compromise."

The queen offered a smile of thanks to Hale, coughing lightly to clear her throat. "There are nine judges to be made, no? And seven islands with people. Make two selected by Jeremy here," She placed a old, wrinkled hand on the shoulder of the thus far silent Jeremy Hensley, "And open the other seven to election, one per island. This will let Jeremy keep some stability as the leader, and let the people have a voice in law. Isn't this fair?"

Amazingly, there was a nod of agreement amongst most of the congressmen; Six out of the seven, and a nod from Hensley. Hensley, speaking for the first time during this portion of the discussion, declared, "That sounds right well, your Majesty. I would ask for a vote at this time; All raise your hands if you wish to implement the Queen's proposal as our judicial policy?" Seven hands rose immediately, including Hensley's. Dolerite, witnessing his idea being outvoted, also raised his hand. "Consensus says that the proposal be implemented. Thank you, your majesty. This ends the formation of the basis for our government, then; We shall congregate in two days to settle on a location for the Congress to meet. When formulating suggestions, do keep in mind the capital has been declared to be Honolulu, and as such, limit suggestions there. Please write your signature upon the base Constitution before you exit, if you would."

The constitution, as it printed, looked like this:

Jackston knew that Old Idaho would fall behind if something wasn't done. So far Old Idaho had been able to stand up against these other bigger nations becuase of its own population of 1.7 Million were hardworkers and did what they had to do, but he believed that this wasn't enough.

Jackston was sitting behind a large oak desk, with elaborate designs of Elk grazing in the forest, when three men walked into his office. The three people were the newly appointed Secretaries of Defense, Allen Ringheart. Secretary of Foreign Affairs Rodger Clemins, and the Secretary of the Treasury, Eliza Dunster. All three had brought diversely diffrent views on what should be done first. Allen was the first to chime in "We need to expand our military", he said with a slight smirk. "If we don't then we won't be able to hold our own."

"You have to be kidding", argued Rodger. "We need to establish alliances and trade before we can devote any resources to our defense. Besides with them as friends, we won't need a military." This squabbling went on until Eliza spoke up.

In a delicate, but reaffirming tone she spoke. "We need to establish our dominance financially, once we become an economic stronghold the other nations will be coming to us."

Both men raised an eyebrow, not expecting something like that from such a small figure. Jackston was the first to respond "Go on, I want to hear more.", he said while preparing to write something on his labtop.

"Well, I believe that if establish ourselves economically then we can diverte our resources to other areas."

"How are we to..." said Rodger before being cut off by Eliza with a cold stare. "Like I was saying, to bring us up financially we need to bring back some of Idaho's "famous" institutions." she said before taking a breath and looking around the room. "I believe we need to reopen Idaho's Gold & Silver mines, aswell as boost our agricultural sector."

Jackston raised an eyebrow, "Hmm that does seem like a good Idea, especially since gold & silver prices will begin to increase." That settled it, Old Idaho's mines would reopen. Jackston believed there was one more thing that needed to be done, something that he believed that every nation had to agree upon. A single form of currency.

We may be seperated as nations, but I do believe that we must all come together on certain items. For instance I believe that we need to institute a new single form of currency, so that all nations of this continent may have a fair chance at success. If we look back at the founding of the U.S.A; where we see that each state had their own form of currency causeing all of them to be ravaged by unfair pricing and inadequate ratios between currencies. That is why I am proposing that we come together at a summit of Nations to discuss this and other matters.

For a bright and prosperous future,
Sincerely: Jackston White, President of Old Idaho

While I find your proposal quite luring, I must say, Currency should not be the top priority of a summit of Nations. I will be willing to come to this discussion, but I will be requesting some sort of formal alliance.

Topic: A Response to the Message of Old Idaho Seeking a New Singular Currency for All Former States
From: The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Greetings President White,

We have read your message requesting a summit. I do agree that we need to sort some things out together before we set out for the future. However, I'd like to point out something in your currency scheme. You must realize that there is no more central government. Who would regulate this new currency? There'd need to be a natio interstate organization to govern the currency. A new federal government? Not that I wouldn't support that.

THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF HAWAII

Property of the Hawaiian Queen

From: Kuhina Nui-Governor Jeremy Hensley

Subject: RE: Currency
Do Not Replicate; Message ID #00003

ON BEHALF OF HER MAJESTY, Queen Liliuokalani, Queen of the Hawaiian islands, I, Kuhina Nue-Governor Jeremy Hensley, hereby respond on behalf of Hawaii, her people, and her newly formed government.

I can understand your reasoning behind the creation of a unified currency, which would create a Euro-like system. This said, I disagree with it. I would prefer the division of the Federal Gold Bullion, namely, one fiftieth to every former State. Meaning, Hawaii, for example, would receive $54,960,000 in gold. This is more than most nations, mind.

If this does not work, we can always revive the Federal Reserve as a North American Trust, keeping the US dollar at its current value with the gold as the backing. Quite worth it, I believe.

These are the only two feasible options, and the only two that the Queen, the Congress or I shall accept.

Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono!

On the matter of a National Summit, The discussion of currency was only one example of concerns that we believed should be discussed. We believe a Summit should we called to alleviate any discrepancy that may occur, problems that arise, and the installation of any codes that we believe should be instituted for all nations. This summit should be called to also address the event of outside involvment, obviously before any can occur, and to protect the nations of this continent from any outside powers trying to take advantage of our situation.

Declaration of Independence of the New Hampshire Republic

Postby Wolfmanne » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:06 pm

Governor Roksana Kowalczyk, a Polish-American, stepped up to the podium from her seat, behind her being the Congressmen of New Hampshire, in both the General Court and the former Federal Congress. New Hampshire would be a small but wealthy nation; during the debt, New Hampshire suffered little - in fact it's economy shot forward - and due to the rise of the Libertarian Party, thanks to the Free State Project, which was more successful than imagined, the Libertarians had been a key ally for both Democrats and Republicans alike. Roksana Kowalczyk considered herself to be a Free Stater, although she was a Democrat and she was born and raised in New Hampshire, so she didn't migrate.

Standing in front of her were the people of Concord and the journalists of New Hampshire, awaiting for answers about the Breakup of the Union.

"People of New Hampshire" she began. "For several days, the General Court and the Constitutional Writing Squad had been long discussing New Hampshire's stance on this. We would like to announce that New Hampshire shall follow the Bill outlined by the former United States Congress. New Hampshire shall cede and form a Republic. Our indepedence means we can follow our own law, our own Constitution, our own liberty. No longer will people from California, Texas or Florida shall govern our lives but today, the people of New Hampshire shall govern themselves". She then proceeded to read the Declaration of Independence, written on a sheet on the podium.

Declaration of Independence of the New Hampshire Republic

New Hampshire General Court Bill 2025 7

On this day, March 8st 2011 New Hampshire shall declare it's independence from the United States Federal Government, justified by Bill 2025 Number 11,

This Bill defines the United States Federal Government, also referred to as the Former United States Federal Government, as the organisation which has ordered us to create and pass this Bill,

This Bill defines the New Hampshire territory as the territory where the New Hampshire General Court represent,

This Bill defines the State of New Hampshire as the former administrative division representing the New Hampshire territory in the United States Federal Government,

This Bill defines the New Hampshire Republic as the succeeding nation to the State of New Hampshire,

All remnants of the United States Federal Government in the New Hampshire Republic is now a part of New Hampshire,

The sole authority over the New Hampshire has been handed over from the United States Federal Government to the New Hampshire Republic,

Within a maximum of a week, the Constitutional Writing Squad shall unveil the improved New Hampshire Constitution and draft the new Bill of Rights of New Hampshire.

Signed by Governor Roksana Kowalczyk.

She left the podium into the State building, followed by the 24 Senators and the many Representatives of the House. New Hampshire was entering a new age, of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
