Yes. This is 2041, not 2011. DVDs would have been obsolete for decades. It's like someone nowadays still owning vinyl records. Unless you're a hipster or 80 years old, you're not going to have records, and people in 2041 won't have DVDs.

Blu-Ray would be primitive, man. Try 3D discs.

... Both of my parents have a bunch of vinyls, and they're only around 50. We also have a turntable. We don't listen to them much, but we still have them, and I will likely inherit them when I'm older.
Just because something's old doesn't mean it should be thrown out, especially when it comes to entertainment.

The exception does not invalidate the rule. Just because your family is living in the past doesn't mean that's how the world works. Most everyone is living in the present, and most everyone doesn't even have cassette tapes or even CDs anymore. It's all mp3s now, and in 5-10 years when those become obsolete, everyone will ditch them, too. Obsolete technology becomes obsolete for a reason: It's inferior to whatever replaces it. Why lug around hefty collection of CDs when you can fit it all onto one small device? And why bother with records and a turntable when you can just plug that device into some speakers?
