A country is nothing more than a group of people inhabiting a patch of land. By harming the people, you harm the nation. Dictatorship is never good for a country, and it inevitably leads to awful conditions for the masses, etcetera.

Obviously, a dictatorship devoted to social freedom and economic strength would be horrible. The dictatorship you lived under was shit, and most dictatorships have been shit, but it's got way too many negative connotations that are in no way inherent to the system. Bias, thy name is Vladislav.

If you can honestly point me in the direction of a free and open dictatorship, do so.

Exactly. Every dictatorship has ended poorly because they are designed to end poorly. You can't concentrate power into the hands of an absolute few without expecting bad things to happen.
For all its faults, I'll stick to my democracy.

To be frank, the idea of giving anyone that much power over millions of lives will never end well.

Collectivism is superior to everything.

There's nothing stirring in the house,
It's quiet and quiet all night.
And if we're lucky when wake up,
All the workers will unite!
'Cause it's a red star up on the Christmas tree.
A hammer for you,
And a sickle for me.
Good will to all of man,
Let's celebrate.
By purging the enemies of the State.

I'd have a clear and easy goal, and likely be able to submit to the whole propaganda thing pretty easily. And again, bias and connotations. Dictatorship simply means that one person has all the power; it isn't a given that they'll restrict freedoms and shit.
