I have been a proud user of this website for years. When I saw that my precious NationStates account had been hacked, cracking the password I also use for everything else, I suffered a near-fatal heart attack. On the ambulance taking me to the hospital, I managed to cancel my credit cards, change my name and enter witness protection. And then, as I'm being transferred to the intensive care ward, someone tells me this was all a sick prank by the administrators?

How dare you. I am a loyal, paying customer. To treat me in this fashion is inexcusable. In compensation for this "funny joke", I demand at least half of NS's profits, a cameo in Max Barry's next novel, and a racecar. Otherwise, I will sue you for all you are worth. You don't know with whom you are messing. I have the authority to get Katganistan fired from her job as a Mossad spook, see to it that The Most Glorious Hack never works in another brothel on the East Coast again, incite Euroslavia's girlfriend to break up with her and ensure that enough scandals dog Melkor Unchained to keep him from ever winning back the 76th Congressional District. I am not even joking here.

I first noticed a somewhat rude post (apparently made by me!) on my regional board, and thought I'd been hacked. First order of business was to delete the offending message, and that's when I got the "April Fools!" notice. After that, I found other things that made me giggle and very nearly pee just a little bit. Nearly.

Then I realized that if I'd been hacked, it's doubtful I'd have access to things like Issues or the ability to delete the offending post(s).

As an aside, I wonder how many people actually benefit from getting duped into changing their passwords? It's probably about time for a password change anyway... How long does the average NS user keep the same password? I believe mine's been intact for at least 3 years...
