There are two types of Christians, the way I see it. The ones that go to church and take what they hear as fact.
And the ones that pray, read the bible, and work on their own relationship with God.
Well there are also the ones that go to church, say they are christian, but then don't know anything about Christianity whatsoever. And a load of other types. But for this example, we are talking about the first two.

If you find the type that works on their own relationship with God, in my experience, they are generally more open-minded than the ones that only ever go to church and take things at face value.

That said, the real problem is two-fold. Convincing Christians that LGBT's aren't evil, and convincing LGBT's that Christians aren't all stupid.
It's an awful task, but it has to be done in this country.

I'm a third type. I go to church, listen, digest it... and draw my own conclusions from a combination of the priest's words, my own intuition, and scripture viewed through the lens of what I know about the society in which it was written.

This. I've always thought of it as the golden rule. I wouldn't want people trying to forcibly convert me to their religion, so why should I try to forcibly convert them to mine? Especially when neither religion can be proven one way or the other.
