I remember when my Geometry teacher was explaining matrices and said, "This is pointless and has no applications at all unless you're planning to work for, like, Pixar or something. But it's on the EOC so I have to teach it."

Every math teacher I have had since 9th grade has been... easily distracted. At least once a week we asked the real world implications and they would go off about it for the whole period; and we just sat around and talked and every so often throw something out there relevant to what (s)he was saying to make it seem like we were paying attention.

I worked out for myself that Algebra was good for showing a formula.... Never really thought about it further than that.
Having said that, I'm better at Algebra than i am at "real math", so I'm perfectly fine to do it even if it was useless. :P

Mine was relatively worse, as she didn't give any real life applications and just said basically, "Because I have to, and it's on the MCAS"
