Minnas wrote:The Cat-Tribe wrote:As a resident of San Diego, I find this report disturbing and, assuming it is true, I am outraged. I do find the report a bit hard to believe, however.
I have never heard of a dress code at the San Diego Museum of Art or any of Balbao Park's attractions, let alone San Diego attractions in general. To the contrary, San Diego is known for having a very relaxed approach to dress. A few internet searches have turned up nothing regarding this new dress code.
I am very sorry this happened to you, Minnas. If there is anyway you can substantiate this claim, I will gladly write to the relevant authorities in support of your complaint.
I've been trying to see if there's any evidence on their web-page that there's indeed, a dress code enforced there. But there's nothing. When I arrived there, a museum employee told me of the new regulations and then, when my mother asked to see a supervisor, the supervisor only said the same. I was dressed inappropriately to enter the museum.
I'll call them and check if they're saying it to the people interested in going. I can tell you the web-page doesn't state anything about dress codes active.

...I immediately queried our Security
department, Docent Council, and my staff.
We are all astonished and no one claims knowledge of this happening. I
can't tell you how much I appreciate you coming to the 'source' as it
were, so that we may set the record straight.
Our only 'dress code' is: no bare feet (safety reasons), and men must
wear a shirt. We welcome any and all visitors with open arms. My concern
is, perhaps the author of the comment is mistaken in the identity of the
museum?
I would love the opportunity to resolve this, so please keep me posted.
We work so hard to make our visitors feel welcome and are devastated to
read these comments.

I seem to recall a different name that Minnas said. It had a word that began with a "B" in it somewhere... Not sure though. San Diego is a big city however, I'm sure there are plenty of museums.
Galloism wrote:The_pantless_hero wrote:How many San Diego Museum of Arts are there?
Museums of Art, not Museum of Arts. The former refers to multiple museums, while the latter refers to a single museum with multiple arts.
That's just like you don't say mother-in-laws.

According to the one website I found from the one Wikipedia page for it, that is the director of Visitor Services for San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.Galloism wrote:The_pantless_hero wrote:How many San Diego Museum of Arts are there?

I should have used quotation marks.
