You just compared Hitler to Napoleon? Are you fucking serious? You are comparing one of the most progressive rulers of his time to a man who led the slaughter of "inferiors"?

Wait, so ending the progress of the French Revolution and instating himself as the total ruler of France is progressive? Mhm.

Depending on what Japan did, Germany could have won the European, North African, and Middle East (?) Theaters during WWII. I'm not claiming this idea as my own, but I can't remember who told me this, but had Japan attacked India instead of the US, then there are many scenarios that branch off of that which would result in Britain being forced out of the war.

Are you calling the fucking Reign of Terror progressive? Jesus Hopscotching Christ. If France was "Progressive" under Robespierre and his psychotics who were destroying the nation I would be scared what the fuck you would consider a good ruler. Code Napoleon, restructuring of Class within France and Jewish Suffrage isn't progressive? Really?

Uh no you can't weasel out of it that easily. You just called Mass Murder via Guillotine fucking Progressive. You can go ahead and explain that bullshit right here. I had a relative executed by personal order of that Nutfuck Robespierre and seeing someone defend that as progressive is pretty damn hilarious if not pathetic.

The Great Terror is often quite exaggerated, for one. The number of victims can be numbered in the thousands. Further, it wasn't a direct continuity from Robespierre to Napoleon. After the overthrow of the Jacobins, there were several changes of power under various groups, such as the Girondists, the Directorate, etc., before Napoleon even became consul, let alone crowning himself Emperor.
It was the self-crowning as Emperor of France that disillusioned a lot of liberals in Europe. For example, Beethoven's Fourth Symphony, I believe, was originally dedicated to Napoleon, but right before the debut performance, he crowned himself Emperor, so Beethoven rededicated it to the French Revolution.

It isn't related to the topic describing what was progressive in the French Revolution and was wasn't.

I still don't get how you at all think I said that chopping heads off was progressive. The French Revolution was a mess, and extremely violent. What I was saying, is that France endured so much shit to get rid of the absolute monarchy they had, just to get to Napoleon making himself the total ruler of France followed by King Louis XVIII after he was instated as king at the Congress of Vienna.
