Fucked Jesus, fucked Eve, fucked Lilith, fucked all of Heaven, fucked the whale (more of a big fish, really) and fucked the dead.
These are the things the Bible had to censor.

It sets a bad example to children. They may grow up to become adultering adults, because after all, their parents taught them it's okay to tell a lie if it makes someone happy.

Reminds me of a year or two back visiting my cousin and her two young daughters in May. The lot of us went out to dinner, and while we're waiting to be seated, an elderly couple comes in. The old man was quite literally a picture-perfect stereotypical Santa sans the red suit- slightly heavyset, truly magnificent pure white beard and mustache, even his body language gave off that sort of merry vibe. My cousin's two little girls kept trying to glance at him without looking like they're staring. You could literally read it clear as day on both their faces, "Is that Santa?! In May?! In Colorado?!"
The kicker? Right as my cousin was about to admonish her clearly intrigued kids not to bother the gentleman, he walks over and asks them if they've been good children since Christmas. Of course, the kids both swear that they've been very, very good. He grins and asks if their mom can confirm that they've been good. Upon my cousin confirming it, he gives the girls each a candy cane and reminds them to listen to their mother, and before he walks back over to his wife, winks and tells them that he's on vacation and that it's their secret. His wife has the happiest smile throughout the exchange, and the kids' faces just light up like you would not believe.
Of course, rationally, I know that sweet old man was most likely a surprisingly jolly retiree who plays Santa at local events during the holidays and prefers to grow his facial hair out; but damn if that moment of serendipity wasn't one of those 'magic is real' sort of moments. And of course, the kids' imaginations ran wild from there- if Santa was on vacation, did the reindeer get a vacation too? And the elves, they probably go to Florida or someplace warm for their vacations! And WOW, that's how Santa knows if you've been bad or good- he asks your parents! OMG MOM WORKS FOR SANTA... SHE AND DAD EMAIL SANTA!
The oldest has since figured out that Santa isn't real, but she still lights up when you ask her about the time she met Santa in May. So, ultimately, based on my experiences, I'd have to go with "The Santa myth doesn't hurt anybody."

That's as funny as my foot, which isn't particularly remarkable in any way.
