Originally, they were just going to shut the AI down, but they quickly realized that it had added a line of code to the mainframe that would automatically launch all the nukes if the AI ever went offline. Therefore, the US Military contracted Max Barry to find someway to make the AI complacent enough to never launch the nukes. After some searching, Max realized that there was one flaw in the AI's design, high concentrations of pure stupidity would freeze its systems as it tried to make sense of it all. And thus, NationStates was born. So, unless you want everyone to die, you will continue your stupid and pointless arguments. It is your duty as a member of NS to contribute your share of stupidity to keep the AI frozen.
