Errr.... is a game. Not real life. We're all playing on the same medium but have different perspectives of the 'game'. RPers write about a make-believe country and write politics and, well indulge in a bit of creative writing. R/D players have make-believe countries and use them to have fun using game mechanics. It's still a game. A make believe world where pretend nations exist in a social network.
You want reality? I challenge you with this:
Go somewhere public, I dunno, a playing field or beach or something. Find a group of people playing, say, football (or soccer for our American friends). You prance over to them with your American Football and insist to these bunch of strangers, that they play your game. When they say "no thank you" you impose it on them any and throw the ball at them, tackle them etc etc.
In your "reality", what do you think would happen? I'm going to say - at worst....... a savage beating.

The resolution's poor wording literally ensures its failure. Again, I would like to stress that we don't go too far in our attempts to counter the resolution and address the issue of Mallorea and Riva's conduct as a whole. Some of you have given flak to a few moderators who have responded to concerns with statements like "R/D is an integral part of regional mechanics" or have otherwise locked threads where heated discussions were taking place. Several of you probably consider the moderation team to be harshly against RPers. They're not. They're just doing their jobs in stating facts from administration and then enforcing the rules.
Remember, it's an RPing region being invaded. We have the moral high ground. Don't lose it. There are a number of moderators who are sympathetic to RPers and would like to see a solution implemented that satisfies all sides. Yet more of them agree that Mallorea's proposed resolution was a bad idea. Others have expressed their thoughts and indicated they will push for solutions at the upper administration level. These are huge victories—much larger than anything we'd gain if Mallorea were removed from his post as moderator.
I agree that Mallorea has exhibited conduct that undermines the responsibility expected as a moderator. And as a mentor whose job it is to aid and represent the RPing community, I'll continue to push for that to be addressed. It's why I contributed to this letter and signed it. I do understand, however, that Mallorea is entitled to act as a player—as you or I—and that "trolling" through WASC resolutions is fully legal and considered "just politics."
We have the moral high ground. It's going to be beyond difficult to get that resolution through the Security Council. This debate has once more sparked the controversy surrounding the raiding of RP regions, and there are many moderators who are sympathetic to RPers and support any possible solution. At the same time, any modification to the game's mechanics would take a very long time to program; accordingly, there is not going to be a fix any time soon. This is why it's imperative to continue to push for a solution, to continue to think of ideas of what we can do to appease not just the RPing community, but the other communities on NS as well. Meanwhile, it's vital to maintain our status as the better and more mature side.
We've done well. Contrary to what some of you may think, the moderators have been very lenient in responding to this controversy and have issued warnings with, from my observation, extreme care. RPers aren't being persecuted; we have more support among the moderators than GPers do. And we should continue to push for a solution to be implemented. If any of you have any ideas, feel free to propose them in Technical.
Good job, guys. Again, I can't stress enough, keep civil. Don't attack moderators for doing their job. Don't break rules. Don't get too aggravated when arguing with Mallorea (his goal is, really, to make you mad). We're doing really well, so let's not ruin it. A lot of progress has been made and I think there is a very high probability we will be able to solve this.
