I am not going to list anything that are spoilers, and I can't remember all of them, but a few listed by my friends who are in the military:

*The soldiers in one scene are all too close together while advancing. NATO militaries teach to keep a distance of up to 10ft in case of explosions, etc.

*The headsets the Marines are using are not used by the USMC, they're Canadian. (according to a friend who recently came back from A-stan).

*Abbreviation of Forward Operation Base is simply said as "fob" not "eff-oh-be".

*They called the Stryker a "LAV" (Canadian name and version).

*The ammunition shown were apparently Warsaw rounds, not NATO.

*Why were there ships off of the LA coast when they knew "meteors" were going to hit the area.

*"Meteors" don't reach a planets surface but burn up. "Meteorites" strike the Earth.

Thats as far as I am going to go for now. I don't remember all of them either, but my military friends were quite annoyed.

That's pretty hilarious because I watched the one actor on The Daily Show and he said that the Director felt an obligation to get all the military shit right, or something like that. Obviously he did no such thing, which is certainly a disappointment.

Yeah, i saw that too, went on about how they made sure to call the Helicopters "Helos" not "Choppers" and other similar things. The meteors thing is rather novice but forgivable mistake I'd say.

pokemon should of ended the first season, yes i know they have new ideas and blah blah blah, but they have a fucking hedghog who is the master of all nature, i am sorry, but that is fucking bullshit, esspesully sence we already had a pokemon who held that spot... 6 movies ago

and i have nothing against hamtaro, sence i was young, and haven't seen it in years

more or less, anime is a very fickle beast, it is very hard to find a good anime when the majority is shit

1) Just because some anime are bad doesn't mean the industry is ruined. Also nothing wrong with NGE or Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo.

2) Manga is better but Naruto still pretty much sucks.

Inaccuracies are hardly a reason for someone to hate a movie. Plenty of movies have inaccuracies in their plots, I base my opinions on movies on the quality of the movie as a whole, not on accuracy.

I don't see any of those as a reason why the movie should never have been made. Most of them seem like either access issues (cheaper to use Canadian parts, maybe), exposition issues (spelling out f.o.b. lets people know it's an acronym, for example) or simple dramatic necessity ( while it's not good practise to group military closely, if the script needs them close together...)

They got the energy stuff right in that it can take out power in an area. I kept wondering "What happened to the National Guard?" and "Why are there no Black Hawks? Why just Hueys and Chinocks?"

For action it was great if you don't know the difference. I take it for what it was though: a action movie(and possibly a 2+ hour USMC and USAF, anti-Army commercial), with some pointless "my brother is dead because of you" drama.

It annoyed everyone I know that saw it that they had to run the aliens over with the IFV when three rounds of HE fire would have been sufficient to completely clear the way. All the talk of the vehicles main gun in the movie and they never used it.....yay.

Actually scratch that about the National Guard. That was the 40th ID (Infantry Division) for a part of the movie - California Army National Guard.
Then what was left of them died all at once.

The manga is a very good read, though. Worthy of all the praise it's received over the past 3 decades. Still, too much of the anime of all kinds was mindless filler and it got pretty irritating.

3. to talk about your first comment, i have to agree, the indestry as vast and powerful as anime can not be so easily killed. but watch animes like Hayate no goku or just amv hell /0 and you know how fucked they can get
