This is likely true, because at least Plan 9 From Outer Space has merit in the sense that it's so ridiculously bad and poorly-written that it's great to watch just to laugh at it, especially when drunk and/or high.

Plan 9 also didn't involve the production company being sued into bankruptcy as a direct result of that film.

I checked budgets, Battlefield: Earth cost $44M, Viva Rock Vegas cost $58M, it's the secret locked move that destroys all. It is simply, hands down, the most awful movie made ever with no redeeming qualities at all, not in a 'so bad it's good' way, not in a 'at least it was original' way, not in a 'there was that one scene at least' way, just in no way ever.
