School is expensive babysitting.

Let the willing be autodidacts and just let the others be serfs.

I say no. I also say elaborate on your position or you have a rather pointless OP as you give us nothing to actually think about.

Hardly is it slavery. Could it be justified better for mandatory attendance? Hell yes.

No, it's not slavery. I don't particularly enjoy going to school every day, but really, I'd go insane if I didn't have it - what else is there if you want to get a really good job? (In these times, I mean). I decided to stay on to do 2 years before university (6th form). If I felt it was slavery then I wouldn't choose to go - obviously. Also, I feel that by going I really do >benefit< from it. If I didn't go, I'd know nothing about politics and thus have no interest in this game :)

Not for any reasonable definition of slavery, no.

You "consider school to be a slavery"?
Maybe you need a bit more schooling yourself.

I'm kinda fed up of people arguing that any curtailment of their liberty, however easily justifiable, is 'slavery'. Clearly there's a sexy party in the hyperbole-mobile and I wasn't invited.

School is a good thing. You learn, you prepare for real life, and you make friends. It's not slavery, because technically you pay to be there.

Perhaps fascist, dearie, but not Nazi. I have little sympathy with the Austrian corporal of no breeding.

Sounds to me like someone doesn't want to go to middle school today.

In my mind, (and this would be only good for myself and other achievers, it would suck for the nation itself) mandatory education should be struck void. It would create a much larger gap between those who achieve and those who do not, and make school better for those who actually want to learn something.
Plus, it would allow those who work hard to actually be successful. Eh?

All I come to school for is mocking...well for primary and middle only. High school fits me much better, I'm lucky I am in a normal class and not with a bunch of whores and whatnot kids. The average student is just the worst in Croatia =/

One wonders what the age of the OP is. I bet, without a doubt, that it is someone in his/her teens.

That's how it usually turns out. What adult idiots make out of taxation, young idiots make out of schooling.

It's fairly likely.

Are you suggesting that teenagers think that school is slavery?
