No said they're better than you solely on your grammar. But everyone did say that good grammar is a sign of intelligence.

I would disagree. I think there are many different types of intelligence, and to say that somebody is unintelligent because they do not value the construct of human language as much as another is absurd.

I think Bottle went with sign of maturity and politeness.
I was saying that good grammar was a sign that one is capable of learning and also reads a lot.

Beyond the fact that this would be raising money for imprisoning people who haven't commit any crime, it would also just be helping the school pay shitty teachers with tenure's salaries. Also what a waste of time and energy, the government already robs me at gunpoint to pay these horrible horrible teachers. Why am I seriously going to raise money for the government? Are you joking?
No.
Maybe it would be a good way to ensure that everyone leaves high school with the ability to form coherent sentences instead of making a monstrosity like "helping the school pay shitty teachers with tenure's salaries." in an argument online.
Also, let's cut this "taxes are theft at gunpoint" nonsense. You don't want to pay taxes, you move somewhere that doesn't have taxes. I suggest Somalia. The rest of us like things like infrastructure, education and agencies that make sure our food isn't poisoned before we buy it.

That's a pretty stupid question, either
a) your school is shit
b) you're lying
c) this was a test for younger students who were specifically assigned to read that paragraph and then sit an exam to test their memory of the information contained in that paragraph. Rather than it being a test of someone's general knowledge of Wallenstein.you cannot expect the high school teacher to actually know jack shit about Wallensteins life.
Assumption.

Lol, it was a typo. But I think its sickening how this topic has turned into a grammar nazi orgy. You guys must go around snubbing people that you consider below you because they don't meet your standards of "intellectual". Thats a personal problem you guys need to work on imo. I don't really look down upon people for such petty reasons.

There's a difference between "You're wrong, I read it in x y and z!" and "I read in x y and z that a instead of b. Could you clarify?".
Yeah, I argued with teachers from pretty much kindergarten on, and I got straight A's.
I'm sure there are some school districts that suck. But the existence of crappy schools (or crappy teachers) does not mean that schooling is inherently crappy or that all teachers are dictatorial jackasses.

I'm not sure how that was a typo. The construction of that sentence was just really bad. It might be style preference, but I would have run with "...helping the school pay for the salaries of shitty tenured teachers." instead. This time you used a possessive apostrophe s correctly, but the rest of the phrase was just wonky.
Although that still ignores the part where a well-funded education system would keep such sentence abominations off the internet and where tax money is not stolen from us, but used on our behalf for things like infrastructure, education, health care, law enforcement and government agencies that ensure the safety of our food and various products we use on a day to day basis (among many other things). Additionally, the suggestion that if you wanted to live in a country without taxes, this is possible. You might find that such countries are not very nice places, however.

You mean that Somalia has improved since they've started getting some semblance of a government again? It looks like they might not be a tax-free place any more either, given that the government has gone and funded public schools.
