Well, I like the state I live in, the general area I live in is alright, but the town I live in sucks.
La Habra, California, LA suburb...
Why? Nothing but typical cookie-cutter suburban shops and homes, overly conservative, all the fun shit is at least 20 minutes away driving (no motorways mind you), only public transit in the town is the bus, nearest train station is 4 miles away, schools suck, air pollution, water pollution, etc, etc. On a personal note, I go to school 30 minutes away (arts school), so I don't have many friends in walking distance, and all my family is in Oregon, Texas, or some other far off place.
LA area sucks in general, there's probably a small handful of places that I'd live in (mostly beach towns), but other than that it's hell.
I'd much rather live in Portland, New York, or San Francisco. I grew up in Portland, I miss cold and rainy weather, the down to earth atmosphere, and all my family that lives there.

Yeah I think the main reason I have trouble getting my parents to move from here is that they have lived here all their lives so it would be hard to live somewhere else but for me I am all "Lets move from this gay place." I try to convince them that Nevada is a failure with the highest unemployment and forclosure rate and the highest high school drop out rate and that our education system sucks. I'll get them to move, just you see!

You can go somewhere else when you get out on your own, even if your parents never do move. I know it is hard to wait, though. I couldn't wait to get out of Maryland.

Yeah, I hate Karachi. The traffic is awful, and there is filth and garbage everywhere. Lahore is so much better! The streets are so clean, and it's just so much more fun.

I honestly don't get how anyone would choose Wisconsin or Idaho over Las Vegas. I mean, all of them are shit places to live (in my opinion), but at least Vegas has entertainment.

THE STRIP is expensive, there are areas outside of the strip that are much cheaper and not as tacky, considering Vegas has one of the lowest cost of living for a city of its size.

I didn't meet a single person in Las Vegas (who was also from there) that I'd ever want to consider a friend.

I lived around several people from Wisconsin back in my home town, and I'll never, ever forget them. Whether or not they've forgotten me isn't the point. Go ahead and have your cheap "entertainment"; I'd rather live around people who are decent.

Not particularly. I live in the north-east US, New Hampshire to be exact. Wonderful state until winter, at which point we get snow up the ass and non-stop wind. Not to mention ice storms. I wouldn't trade it, though.

10 inches a month seems low, and average snowfall is a pretty useless measurement. Up here, it tends to fall hard(close to a foot+) or not at all. Some months will have storms almost every week, some won't have much of any snow.

I just want to move to a place that gets like on a nice day of winter like 10 inches of snow a month or something like that......I just want some snow *sniff sniff*, I want it to look like this in the winter, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhu53NJU7M0, not this http://media.travelpost.com/prod.aws/hotels/37640/Super_8_Motel_44089_1_07312006_1707498686_500.jpg.

Anyways, enough about my troubles, do you dislike where you live? If so where do you want to live?

I kind of like it where I live. I want to live here. Only thing I dislike is winter weather - too much darkness+cold (This morning it was -25 C). Walking around in heavy clothes sucks. I hope that some global warming will make it warmer here.

It's only cold about three, maybe three and a half months out of the year. As long as the water won't freeze, it's all good.

not to say I wouldn't rather be sitting on a beach right now melting under the Sun but then I would have some bug laying eggs in my brain or a tragic lack of decent fanny :/

How is Nevada a failure state? I live in Buffalo, New York where it is finally getting above freezing for a high (though today we are supposed to go down to 29F for a high, but it will go back up again shortly) and the piles of snow still have yet to go below my head (I am 5'10). I actually love snow, but the thing that is really driving me out of here once I get my degree is that my property taxes tripled last year, as the state is trying to pass a budget on time (failed again though). Living costs here are actually pretty low compared to some other places I have lived, but they are going up with the taxes. Crime is low, but that is because there isn't much worth robbing or killing people for around here. There used to be over half a million people in Buffalo, but now there are barely over a quarter million, and whole sections of the city are abandoned. I am taking a minimum wage job soon, because that is all that is hiring in this city in this economy. Have you considered factors like these before condemning your parents for staying in Nevada?

I do like Buffalo. Most of my family lives here. I have some friends still living here. However, there seems to be less and less to like about it every year.
Wait an hour, and it will be now again
