A Gorillaz album in all actuality. But I love ants, they by far are the most successful invasive species(well, aside from humans), spreading "empires" of colonies across the world, a rate of production unrivaled from any species on earth! Ants are the epitome of empire! They are the most efficient, the most fierce and the best hegemony over nature in it's entirety!

I'm a fan of the Persian Empire. In terms of civil rights, they were way ahead of their time.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Their freedom of religion deal was... Standard operating procedure at the time (Always has been for everyone except the adherents of the abrahamitic faiths, really), and there's plenty of sources describing the existence, purpose and function of the persian secret police. Nowadays, we'd call it one hell of a tyranny.

As far as tyrannies go, it was a pretty nice one, and by contemporary standards they were pretty okay - but they weren't leaps and bounds ahead of anyone.

It was leaps and bounds ahead of the standard "Look, something we haven't burnt yet! Let's burn it!" of the times.

Even though I am thoroughly Anti-Imperial I do admire the Arab empire for their warrior code and their culturual and scientific achievements, not to mention their religion, even though I'm not an adherent

Tell that to the Haitians, Moroccans and Algerians, Mexicans in the 1860s, the Vietnamese also known as Indo-China at the time not to mention the people of Madagascar and that's not even getting started with the literally dozens of other various African and Pacific nations that exist today from the breakup of the French Empire in the 1950s and 1960s.

You two might consider reading a history book some time, because to say France never had an Empire is a massive understatement.

Nitpick time, of all the choices you listed I'm sadden you left out some of the biggest. The Mongol Empire, the Russian Empire and the various Persian Empires for starters.

Also, it's the Ottoman Empire not the Turkish Empire as Turkey as a nation didn't exist until 1922 A.D. I.E. Turkey never had an empire. Also, depending on what you consider Greek, there never was a Greek empire per say, the closest and largest was the Macedonian Empire.

BTW, the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire can be combined into one choice as the Byzantine Empire was little more then the continuation of the Eastern Roman Empire which it itself is sometimes referred to as.

Also, a better joke empire choice probably would of been listing an American Empire as an option. For some people, they really do believe America has an empire. No one truly believes {not any sane person I've met-haven't meet any insane ones either so they might exist} that there is an actually Galactic Empire.

As to my favorite empire, I would have to give it a toss up between the early Roman Empire and the Russian Empire {but, not the later Soviet Empire [USSR]}.

British , see the thing with them is that often, under them, peoples in the colonies would prosper (alright, I confess, maybe not Native Americans or Africans) in some way (i.e Malaya whom was given a modern road and communications system by the Brits, India with a standard language and system of writing, etc)

Strange, then, that when someone mentions the "French Empire", they are unlikely to be referring to Napoleon's failed attempt to turn a nation-state into an imperialist continental unit and are more likely to be referring to the French colonial empire, which was the 9th largest empire in history - albeit still ultimately a failed attempt to turn a nation-state into an imperialist transcontinental unit.

The term "Ottoman Empire" was retroactively applied to distinguish the Ottoman era from the modern Turkish republic, and was never actually used during its existence. Actually, the British empire had either a King-Emperor and a Queen-Empress, as was the monarch's official title. If you've seen The King's Speech, you'll noticed that King Edward signs his abdication form with the letters "RI" at the end of his name, which stands for "Rex Imperator" - the Latin term for King-Emperor.

Not even a communist would describe the British political system as "feudal". Feudalism, as a system of governance, died long before the foundation of the British Empire (although there were exceptions to the rule, such as Tsarist Russia).
