Weird Flu

Postby UnitedStatesOfAmerica- » Wed Feb 02, 2011 1:56 pm

For the first time in 30 years I appear to have a flu or a cold. I have had cold before but this is slightly different. First it caused a sore throat, runny nose and my head felt like it was going to explode.
Last night I could not pop my left ear. Now I am experience slight hearing loss. No pain unless I try to put in a ear plug to block very loud noises. And when I yawn or sneeze, I feel presssure in the ear.

Can anyone who has had this tell me how long this thing lasts for? I have an appointment with the VA but it is not until the 8th.
I hope this hearing stuff does not become permanent.

So far I have had this for a week but the hearing stuff just started last night.

Well done, you have a head cold.

If it gets worse then you may have man flu but let's not worry too early about that terrifying fate.

Yep I agree. Since there are no body aches.

I edited the original post to note that I have had this cold for about a week but the hearing stuff only started last night.

I'm usually good at preventing this stuff because I'm tight on sanitation. But an unsanitary person was recently brought into the house who coughs all over everything without covering his mouth or taking basic sanitation precautions. That can be fixed by evicting said person since he has been told repeatedly to take precautions to protect the health of other people in the home and he has been acting like he does not care.

I just want to know how much longer this will last.

I had the same thing happen when I first moved to Germany. It sucks for a while but I wasn't on any antibiotics or anything and the worst of it went away in a week or so.

Shouldn't last too long, probably no more than a few days. If your sinuses are bothering you that much, consider using whatever the US equivelent of Vicks or Olbasoil is.

There's a jar in our dubious medication drawer, but come to think of it I've never actually seen it in Boots and the like...

Head cold. I had one two months ago myself. Lasted about 5 days. And what do you mean "pop your left ear?"

Never ever get a flu shot.

They have laced them with many unnecessary vaccines such as anti-H1N1, and will more than likely make you sick.

This is all to prop up the economy of the poor vaccine makers which of course is in terrible condition.

I recommend taking zicam zinc supplements they really decrease the duration of a flu. VA is not likely to do much for you unless your very severely sick in which case they might give you tamiflu.
