The only thing I don't like about Blood Bowl is that it's hard or even impossible to buy new players for your team that are anywhere close to the level of your current team. It's like a Premier league team signing on a pub-league player. And what's worse is that the AI teams don't seem to suffer from this problem.

I've never seen the appeal of Age of Empires; it just seems like a mediocre RTS version of the Civilization series.

Left 4 Dead seems good, but I prefer Zombie Panic as you get to be the zombies.

I like Age Of Empires because it shows me what I'm doing, not just telling me where my civilization is going.

I like feeling involved, and the Civ games just don't cut it for me.

Is it the classical non-firearms setting and the fortification building that gives it the Unique Selling Point? As otherwise I can't see how its better than Company of Heroes or Dawn of War 2.

Though I'm not one to judge, as the last time I played Age of Empires it involved that horrible music that'll sound bad on a 16-bit system, like the original Cossacks games.

Well... Yeah. And aren't Company Of Heroes and Dawn Of War 2 almost identical to AOE (or derivative of it)?

If AOE has destructible terrain, realistic cover, Doctrine tiers, supply lines and other innovative gameplay mechanics, yes.

Meh.

I will admit, though, that COH is the superior, tighter game. AOE just has a broader field of play, less specific than tactics (I always saw it more as an economy-driven game: disrupt the other guy's resource management and you've won). I've never played DOW, though.

I agree with you there, infact I may be tempted to buy AOE if it has a map editor, which I expect it does.

If I do remember right, AOE II and Age Of Mythology did have map editors, so I don't see why AOE III won't have one. Very intricate ones, if I remember right, but then again, I'm not that good with computers.

You'd think AOE III would have one if the other games did, but I remember that Empire Total War didn't have half the customisable options that Medieval II and the other older games in the series did.

Not that I know of, but the 'Custom Battles' in Empire were much less "custom". You could only have 1v1 battles and with only two cash settings- "medium" and "large". You also don't have the ability to place fortifications, though that could be more because of the time period.

Edit: You can customise the battle and campaign maps in Rome and Medieval II, though that's modding rather than an in-game option.

Hey fellow n3rdy gamers, I was wondering, should I make a thread on SWB where we could trade mod links n' stuff, or does anyone else even have a PC SWB?

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

No you don't. Although the game is great, its laggy as hell with the servers, and you need to download 3 different programs/plugins to run it. (You download and install it in EA's steam ripoff "Origin" then it opens up your web browser, where you then install a plugin. After all that you to play, you open origin, hit battlefield 3 go to the web browser and then hit find match. Its way overcomplicated. Still fun. But they need to fix that shit for the final release.

Can't get mine to join a server.

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. Yeah. Paradox games often get shittier with each new incarnation, but Vicky 2 is actually a big improvement over Vicky. Especially in regards to how colonization works and the SoI system.

I like it but the events and decisions are limited for some countries.
For example when I play Belgium (my favorite country in that game) IIRC there are no Belgian Congo events, decisions, etc.

Cassacks 2 perhaps, but the first...not so much. The artillery pieces needed micromanaging because they didn't fire on their own- something that the AI didn't have a problem with. And the 2nd Cossacks was more tactical.

Because there's nothing to say that Belgium will get involved in the Congo. It'd seem silly to have a lot of Belgian Congo events if the player decides to colonize, say, the Gold Coast instead. Vicky 2 is more freeform - Vicky tried to shoehorn you into developing one way or another. By God, if I want the center of French Colonial Africa to be Madagascar, then so be it! (I've never played France - my current game is Chile).

Playing Germans is fun.. I think I've mastered Hearts of Iron, as much as possible, and now just try to beat it as fast as possible on the hardest difficulty.

Victoria 2 is kind of boring. Like Hearts of Iron, with slightly less graphics and a more indepth diplomacy system.
