Also speaking of Zelda (and game music!) if you get the chance, I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Symphony of the Goddesses concert if you are either a Zelda fan or just a fan of game music. Went last year when the show was in LA, and I'm squeeing with glee since I checked the schedule when I fetched the link for this post and saw it's coming back to LA in June.

Man, and the Greek Theatre is like the perfect venue for it- open air theater up in the hills above LA, a little bit secluded up in almost-wilderness... perfect fit with Zelda music. I had tickets like maybe 3 rows from the front, smack in the center; I really can only describe the experience that night as purely magical.

... Even if a couple of people I was talking to during the intermission made me feel old.
"Yeah, I remember playing Wind Waker aaall the time when I was six!"
"... I played the original Legend of Zelda... on the NES. o.o"

Indeed, but considering that God of War's entire premise is being a royal douchebag to anyone that dares stand in your way (and by "being a royal douchebag to", I mean "brutally slaughtering with zero remorse or mercy"), I think there are far worse things to worry about

The New Starcraft doesn't look overly impressive if the trailer is any indicator.

I've been in the beta, and it's pretty solid, though it'll take a while for the metagame to settle down to the point where it can be properly balanced.

I generally only go into the Beta Late so i can avoid glitches and overpowering and other game breaking elements.

I think they are just overhyping and pushing Kerrigan a bit much with the last few games to be honest.

I am of the mind that; Well she is a swarm leader; Go in and shoot her in the face several times.

God Of War hasn't really had many positive images of women in the games, what with the slutty godesses and the vicious lady monsters with giant tits and the gratuitous nudity to Kratos the God of Questioning The Size Of Your Penis and Pleasing Women Instantly.

the overmind's vision indicates that she is the salvation of the galaxy, and the only thing that will save the Protoss and the Terrans from the Voice in the Void. She has to live, or the galaxy is doomed.

While I personally like to see games portray strong female characters and not just sexualize them for the sake of sexualizing them, I agree with this.

Now that I think about it, I find it a bit funny that apparently God of War comes with a Last of Us Demo, and Last of Us is supposed to have strong female characters........Yet their demo is on a game that doesn't sound like it tries to make strong female characters so much.

Just looked up the hour long video of Defiance gameplay. Now I understand why the hype is low, it looks like a basic TPS but is a console MMO. I respect how it's advancing technology on the consoles, but I don't really want to play a game where screen tearing occurs without large amounts of players. It probably would get worse. Not to mention it just looks meh overall, and the design isn't really that exciting.

Thankfully, Destiny looks like it will be good, from the small sliver of gameplay we've seen, at least the alpha/beta build doesn't have any graphical errors.

Not to mention killing Zerg is ingrained in the starcraft expreince. Of course they plan to make that a key feature in future installments if that vision comes to pass (Personally hope it does)

Agreed. The fact people find sex scenes in video games offensive (I've heard stories of "Controversial sex scenes" in games), while brutally murdering people is okay and not offensive, is just weird in my opinion. Yes, admittedly I'm more uncomfortable with sex scenes then disturbing gory scenes in games and movies, but some of the outrage about this stuff is ridiculous. Besides, controversy helps things a lot of the time, even if temporarily.

And it not going to harm the 'women right' movement either. I don't see you having a issue with the extreme violence portrayed in the game, shouldn't that be some what a more serious concern if anyone had any issues with it?

I'm all for women's right, but I'd consider 'trying' to stop people going out on the street and tearing the head of the neighbor, if one thought there was an issue (which there is not), more serious than portraying women in a 'bad light'.

I've never had nor will ever have an issue with the violence or sex in games. That's video games. That's what they do. That's their thing.

We're not talking about women's rights. We're talking about respect for the opposite sex/gender.

We can't talk about women being equal to men in video games when the majority of video game protagonists have been and always will be men and the people they had to save were women.

I get that not all women can be sword-wielding bad asses, but at least make them resemble human beings instead of portraying them as something to be destroyed, conquered, or avoided in favor of hanging out with your "buds".

For the record, I haven't played a single G.O.W., though more because I never got the chance and I probably never will, since the cinematic hack-and-slash stuff that is G.O.W.'s bread and butter doesn't interest me.

What I'm eager for is how it'll expand upon the weapons. We've never really had a Star Wars game that expanded deeply on the design of blasters, and I like how they've added displays on the actual gun showing how much ammo is left in the currently loaded magazine, rather than a counter on your HUD. Not to mention, the fact that as a Stormtrooper you might actually see some of your helmet like in Republic Commando would be great.

What I hope though is we get to customize our character. I for one would love running around as a Scout Trooper or a Storm Commando.
