You have to get all the major DLC for it to not be a broken game. Then it's got a monstrous learning curve but becomes very fun.

It's a massive game. I'm not that good at it honestly. You have to learn how to gage production needs, develop a doctrine(not a mechanical but cerebral thing,) gear your infrastructure and production based on that broader doctrine, set up an order of battle, define theaters, set up lines of supply and FOBs, on and on.
Thanks for the tip.

Dear me, that sounds big and complex. Just the kinda thing I'd love to try and figure out, only to fail miserably. Thanks for the tip.

Zoo Tycoon 2.
I've spent veritable months of time playing that game. I've created unique exhibits and environments to host things.
A graphical update, combined with even more animals and possibilities for co-habitation(Which was, by far, one of my favorite things to do. Wetlands with a shark upstream? Hell yeah!). Perhaps new mechanics to gameplay, and even more customization. Birds would also be a must.
And if there's a sea creature and dinosaur expansion again, for fuck's sake, include some plesiousaurs, pliosaurs, and mosasaurs.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

For some reason I've never really cared for FPS games set in the Star Wars universe. I mean, the Battlefront series was okay, but their controls were weird on the PC compared to the console (where that weirdness didn't exist on similar FPSes like Battlefield 2).
Now, a new Star Wars RTS would be nice. Perhaps one with both truly-3D (Homeworld-like) space combat and worthwhile planet combat, as well as some city-building elements.
And no, Empire at War doesn't count; that sodding pile of manure ought to be taken out into a field and shot.

I liked Empire at War. It was a fun game. That said it could of and should of been much much better.

I didn't like the expansion as much. Mostly because of the way the new faction worked. I like to play as empire and just build up fleets of Star Destroyers. Build 3 of them plus the Thrawn and the other Star Destroyer Hero and you can steamroll everything. Problem is that the stupid corruption thing gives them a victory even though I'm steamrolling everyone. And there's not really a way to remove corruption except by conquering a world.

You should try Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (and its expansion, Clone Campaigns). Empire at War basically took those games, removed virtually all flexibility, added 3D graphics, and generally didn't live up to its spiritual predecessors' standards. It's why I haven't played EaW in years, but SW:GB is one of the various older games installed on my Windows 2000 VM on my laptop, and one that I still play.

I felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me as the memories of playing Civilization II came back to me. These guys made the experience a lot more fun, I'd say.
