What there needs to be is an MMO that is basically like dead risings survival mode but a whole city and not just a small section.

And this is why I don't pay for ANYTHING after I buy the game CD.
MMORPG's are for suckers.

Honestly, why do people seem to feel the need to make the statement that people who keep paying for the product is an idiot? Yes I've paid monthly subscription for MMOs, but that's because it cost money to keep the game going and to keep new content flowing. It's the same reason why I pay for DLCs for my simulation games. I mean I'm sure you get some self-congratulatory smug feeling from laughing at MMO players, but honestly, until you actually play an MMO, don't knock it. Esp. don't knock it if you paid for a DLC for a game you already brought.

It's applied to MMOs because MMOs are the only genre where it's considered acceptable for you to literally repeat the same thing ad infinitum. The actual objectives for quests in WoW, for example, don't change from level one to level eighty. You're essentially paying to play the same content re-skinned a billion times. Not to mention, letting developers get away with lots of DLC is bad because it's making games something they want us to constantly pay for.

Played WoW on and off as well, usually with the onset of the "latest expansion"
Age of Conan was... meh. I was decent.
Kingdom of Loathing... all I can say is "fear my disco banditry!"

The cost of maintaining software (at least for PC games) is difficult now that it's gotten so advanced, it's going to get expensive. Selling DLC is a way to keep the patches going. I don't mind DLCs actually, as long as it's not omfgwtfbbq essential to the game itself. It has to be cosmetic or minor. Bioware is somewhat good at this.

RSC is good at DLC too. They allow third party Payware and Freeware vendors to add to the game, as well as selling their own DLCs. Hel, they even allow the third party payware vendors to sell their product on Steam, alongside WITH their own DLCs. I think PC game developers could learn many things from that model.

RSC...Runescape?!
And yeah, that's one way to cut costs. EA could learn so many things from this. But then again, it's EA...
Also, the only MMORPG I'm looking forward to is The Secret World. All others have failed me (for the last time).
I'm talking Rail Simulator Company. http://railsimulator.com/

I play MMOs, not for the quest, I play them for the social interactions and for whatever storyline and role playing opportunity that the MMO may have. Yes, in about 99% of MMOs, the quests are pretty much the same, I will give you that. However, that's just one aspect of playing an MMO.
As far as DLCs, TBH, I buy DLCs and Payware (Payware is third party DLC) because 1. I support the product and I support the continuation of the development of that product. I also support the third party payware vendors who make content for the game. In the simulation gaming genre, the usual model is every two the three years, you get an upgraded version of the game. Flight Sim 95, 98, 2000, 2002, 2004, FSX, etc.
However, with one of the simulation games that I play, instead of releasing an updated version of the game that you have to pay for, every two years. What they've done is released the original game, and you get the upgrades for free. I brought this game when it first came out, and received each major upgrades for free. However, the company has to make money right? That why they also release DLCs. Sometimes they're new models, new routes, etc. You don't have to buy the DLC in order to enjoy the game.
I don't have a problem with DLCs as long as they are an addition to the original game, instead of something that you HAVE to buy in order to completely play the game.

Wasn't there a printer or something that came with the original so you can print your pictures?
