At least she strangled the devil dog first before she burned it. I assume it must have confessed to witchcraft and repented.

Ah, but going by your earlier statement, the blame must be put on the owner.

Of course the problem with Pit Bulls is ownership... However, the quickest way to fix the problem is eradicating the breed, a breed created for fighting.

Woman: God Told Me To Hang, Burn Pit Bull

A Spartanburg County woman told animal control officers God advised her to hang and then burn her nephew's pit bull because it was "a devil dog" and because it had chewed her bible.

Spartanburg County animal control officers said Miriam Fowler Smith, 65, of Pacolet Mills, confessed to wrapping an extension cord around the dog's neck, hanging it from a tree, and then setting it on fire.

Smith faces one felony count of ill treatment of animals in general, and she remains in the Spartanburg County Detention Center as of this posting.

The dog, named Diamond, belonged to Smith's nephew, Andy Fowler, who left the home on Jan. 9. When he returned Jan. 15, Fowler noticed the dog wasn't there.

He told officers he assumed the dog had gotten loose and was running free, but when he pressed his aunt, she confessed to killing it, according to animal control officers.

Officers found the body of the animal under a mound of dried grass on the property at 410 John Worthy Road in Pacolet Mills.

Officers state they spoke with Smith while they were there January 16 when she came out of the home to walk to church.

The report states she told officers she killed the dog after it chewed on her bible and that she was afraid children in the neighborhood could be bitten by the animal.

Animal Control Director James Nelson says this case is the first time in his career that anyone’s ever been charged under the felony statute against cruelty to animals.

Officers arrested Smith Sunday, January 23, and as of Monday at 11:21 a.m. she was still being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

Something tells me this woman has started her long descent into dementia, I mean she's too old to be those psychopathic kids who torture animals for "fun". Also, dogs chew on stuff all the damn time, it's what they do to keep their teeth sharp, that's why you give them a damn rawhide. I hope that if it IS dementia, that the woman gets help, and if it isn't then I hope she spends the rest of her life in prison.

Thoughts?

Not to be insensitive. But Dog meat is pretty good, depending on the Dog. My only problem with what she did is that she did it in plain view for everyone to see and that she dd. She should not spend life in prison for this.

She's a bible thumper, let her rot. Damn, I forgot what else I was going to say... Image

Eh, from my standpoints. Animals are really not evil. They got their primal instincts, one of most pit bulls tends to be to just about tear everything made of fabric an owner that has not trained it can have. Leave a book out and it is a good chance it will be torn to pieces. Does not really depend if it is holy or not.

Reminds me of the parents that left their kid with a python, only to find the kid consumed later on. It has nothing to do with the serpent being 'evil' it wants food and it has a primal instinct for it. The kid would be of a simple enough size for it to be considered snack for a large python. True enough that it is mandatory they have to kill an animal with a taste for human blood, but animals do not on their own have the capacity for evil, their cause is really at most times quite simple, like the pitbull, he saw a book, and wanted to tear it to shreds. You could have placed any other book there and it would have been torn as well.

From experience, dogs do sometimes tear things up when they haven't been given enough attention. I had a Basset, once, that ripped up one of my school books, cause' we left the dog alone at home for to long.

So this woman is a bible thumper and a neglectful owner. Poor dog. Image
