Is the Earth 6,000 years old?

Postby Seculartopia » Sun Jul 26, 2009 2:44 pm

This is a debate about ^.

Personally, looking at natural wonders and evolution, its impossible to think the world is only 6,000 years old.

Of course, there is the "creation" factor, but an argument of natural perfection is not an argument in the name of creationism.

No.

I will estimate that 1 of 50 regular NSGers will say yes.

If by 6,000 you mean ~4.5 billion, then yes. Otherwise no.

Yes the Earth is (at least) 6,000 years old, in fact it may even be ~4.5 billion years old.

The Earth is 6000 years old in roughly the same sense that my mother is 25 years old. Everyone in their right mind knows it's not true, there is extremely obvious and irrefutable evidence demonstrating it's not true, but some people just feel better if they pretend it's true nonetheless.

It's over 9000 years old!

For a more useful answer: 4.54 billion, approximately.

I dunno, I would pick thin crust, but if it's really freshly made you can bend the slices and watch cracks appear in the side that doesn't have the cheese and tomato sauce and mushrooms and such on it. On the other hand, deep dish can be searing hot and burn the back of your mouth, much like magma. So I'm divided on the issue.

That would be a far more interesting debate than this thread, by the way.
