Give them any southern ocean bordered state, so we dont have to worry about the huuricanes and having to help them. Lol.

But in all seriousness, just dissolve Rhode Island into Conneticut or Massechusetts.

The US loses a state.

Postby Canadian Davsland » Sun Jul 10, 2011 12:52 am

@ United States of Cascadia: I'm sure Cascadia will be independent, 35% of people in BC thinks it should separate from Canada. And all three areas BC, Washington, and Oregon have a common history, culture, weather and political beliefs.

If you want more info go to Google and type http://www.cascadia Independence project.com

If the US had to lose a state I think either: California, Cascadia, New England, or New York State.

I agree with you Arumdaum, I think it should be a federation consisting of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. Together we would a a glorious and liberal group.

Does anyone think New York or New England should separate? If New York split I would divide it the following way:

The city of Buffalo and the rest of the Niagara peninsula to Canada.

Upstate New York, Capital: Albany

Lower State New York, Capital: New York City.

Long Island, Capital: To be determined.

Texas. Being one of the more successful states (or so I'm told) it would be fun to see the US descend into a state of anarchy and chaos.

That's a bit laughable considering the great budget problems California's had since the recession.

If any State could survive on it's own, I think it would be Florida. The State government's done a relatively good job staying within budget in these tougher times. Housing market may have gone to the shitter, but economy's decent overall. Tourism industry already brings in a great amount of revenue, especially when the market's good. International business opportunity could expand, particularly because of proximity to Cuba (and under this scenario, Florida's sovereign ability to lift embargo).

Texas might be able to as well... but I like the idea of Florida more because it leaving the Union wouldn't disrupt the borders of the Continental US.

It couldn't expel Obama because of the chronology involved, but other than that, you're spot on. One good volcanic event and Hawaii is over. Might as well give it back now.

Oklahoma [excluding the 'panhandle', which got added later) was originally supposed to be reserved for Native Americans, and so was South Dakota, so maybe the USA should try living up to its forebears' promises and renounce ownership (and remove the settlers' descendants) from one or both of those?

How does the south lack human rights or quality of life? Statistically, they do have the lower life expectancies but how does that relate to development?

I never said they did. I simply corrected your mistake. Life expectancy is one of the primary indicators of development. It indicates the quality of healthcare, peacefulness and quality of life in the area.

Really, economic growth isn't part of development? Bull crap.

I said it's not an important part, not that it's not a part.

Also, stop with the multi posting, it's A) bloody annoying to respond to you and B) against the forum rules.
