Why would you waste your "pick one state" on Texas, a state most likely to secede on its own anyway? Do you realize that Texas is the largest center of Defense Industry in the U.S.? Texas would retain the capacities and infrastructure to thoroughly defend itself against any Mexican Invasion. Truuue but people don't realize that Alaska actually would be the most worst off. Which means it's the most heavily subsidized state. California at least has a large tax base, Alaska is pretty much Siberia in America.
