And here we go with the Texas bashing........ look, how many times do I have to point out that the vast majority of people who live in Texas are neither inbred nor hicks? I already explained that neither Bushes actually represent Texas accurately, considering they are not actually Texan. I live in Houston, which is what, 5th or 6th largest city in the world? We have a first-rate business sector, a top-performing port with billions in revenue, a respectable GDP, a top-tier university, a top-tier medical center, and we are one of the most ethnically diverse and cosmopolitan places on earth. I myself have close personal friends from no less than 8 different countries. I do not associate with bigoted idiots, and never have. No one I know does either. I have never worn a cowboy hat or boots. The only poeple I know who have did so as a joke. This is what I was talking about earlier. People see that idiot Perry or that idiot Bush and assume that is what all of us Texans are like. I didnt vote for them, and no one I associate with did either. If you really want to see what Texas is like, come here. Ill show you around, and introduce you to people who will shatter your preconceived notions.

Please people, stop trolling my home. If you dont actually live here, or have never spent a significant amount of time here, you have no idea what it is actually like. If you have a real argument against it involving politics or the like, then you are entitled to that opinion. Just dont unabashedly deride an entire place and its population just because of your limited exposure to it.

Well, I am eager to report that a huge amount of people are stupid. The problem is, we have this identity in the USA where we identify ourselves by state as well as national origin. Bush was a terrible president; I gladly give you that point because I never liked him anyway. So when people think of him, they immediately point at the fact that he is "from" Texas (although he is not), and then they look at Perry (admittedly that does look bad on us, never really liked him much either), and draw the conclusion that because we elected a few idiots, we must all be idiots. Combine that with the already existing stereotypes of southerners being inbred bigoted homophobic hicks, and now I suffer from an unfair stigma for being from Texas, a place I love, and a place that is not what it is made out to be in the media and pop-culture. People act so surprised when they hear that I am from Texas, because I enunciate clearly and have actually read novels. The picture that the mainstream has painted of me and my family and friends is totally bogus, and it actually offends me.

All Im saying is, give us a chance. Get to know a Texan. Maybe we'll change your mind.

Actually, because I take my time when I post, to better ensure that I clearly explain myself, and because I type slowly, those posts had already been made by the time I actually got to submit.

I am certainly not a creationist, and even the creationist people I know are libertarian, so neither myself nor anyone I know advocates the teaching of any religious or moral values in a public school. As far as homophobic goes, you clearly have never been to the Montrose/Westheimer area of Houston, nor have you heard of the Houston Gay Pride Parade, which is one of the largest in the country. I also have quite a few gay friends, and one of my oldest childhood friends is Transgender. I must admit that not everyone is as open-minded as I am, but Homophobia is a problem everywhere, not just here.

If your issue is with some specific Texan politicians, or a few specific policies, then please go ahead and have issue with them. I can assure you that my friends, my family, and I, do everything we can every election to fix the problems that older generations have perpetuated and we are attempting to educate ignorant and apathetic people to get motivated to change things. All I am saying is that dont let the image that my home state has developed (through only some fault of its own) make you bash and hate on the entire population as a whole.

Probably Afghanistan -failed attempt at satire-

It's highly unlikely that the U.S. would ever lose a state, but if they had to lose a territory, I would say it would be Guam.

If they didn't have the grand canyon and some other pretty geography, I'd say Arizona.

Just read through all the stupid laws they've tried to pass lately.

For that matter, I doubt Texas would be missed.

Alaska contributes nothing but oil, which we need to wean ourselves off of anyway. Also, it contributes Sarah Palin, who we could deport if Alaska seceded, much to the benefit of the USA.

Drevisczenko, as you are fairly new, let me explain the general method of most general frequenters:

1. Make posts confusing and unclear. Use a lot of big words. When the person whom quotes you makes a mistake, you be an asshole about spotting said mistake and either use  or :palm:.
2. Don't give the other person time to post.
3. Be sure to allow others to jump in and blitz on the other person.

There are more, but unfortunately, those are the hidden secrets of the General officers.
