No I heard this from a guy who did a dolphin he posted it on a website but the site is defunct now so I can't link it.
Where I learned male dolphins have 14" prehensile penises, and dolphins' thrusts can break the human pelvis.

As someone said earlier, even in the cases of animals that can consent, they can't alert authorities to when they have been mistreated on their own, so the choices are make it illegal and only investigate when there is evidence of occurrence, or make it legal and perform constant checks on all pet owners to look for signs of mistreatment.

Animals are property.
Do with them as you will.

addendum: Animals are not given consent or thought as actual beings, but as property, anyways. Why should we bother giving them rights when they will never truly understand the meaning of them, or be able to communicate with human beings on a meaningful level. Unlike an infant, or even a disabled person, animals have no ability to understand any human concepts such as liberty, rights, and protection from tyranny.

As for causing the animal physical pain, I never spoke of such. I was talking about subordinating an animal's body to your will, but not by causing pain in the process. Indeed, riding a horse probably causes a lot more physical discomfort to the animal than sucking its dick would.

Pain or discomfort in general are not "human concepts", which is why we have human concepts such as animal cruelty laws.

I mean sure, one may be looking for horse like qualities, but thats no reason for bestiality to be practiced.. Its kinda sick, what if you get impregnated with some ape's semen and have a mutant baby :o and it somehow manages to live!

We obviously don't take the animal's wishes into account when we slaughter them, but that is a different matter since we use them for a more legitimate purpose (food). In that case, food outweighs the need for consent. In the case of bestiality, being able to have sex with an animal is not important enough to be able to do without consent.

But animals have sex with other animals, do they not?
The truth is that I think most people find it disgusting on an "Eww, icky!" level, and so they desperately cast around to find SOME excuse to make it illegal, so they go the "Well, by this extreme legal technicality that we scoured for with a fine-toothed comb, non-human animals can't technically give legally binding consent so therefore this is illegal. Yeah, that works. Let's pretend that's enough of a veneer of reason to rationalize our opinion." route.
