TSA confiscates nail clippers from gun toting soliders

Soldiers returning from Afghanistan were re-screened. One of them had nail clippers which were confiscated despite the fact he was allowed to carry an assault rifle on the plane. I have to wonder does the TSA lack common sense or are they just crazy ? What says you NSG ?

Oy vey! Does someone with common sense (aka a civilian) need to teach the TSA how to do their jobs? It sure seems like it. My handling of it would've been to deal with the obvious... I would've, instead of focusing on the nail clippers, simply said, "Sirs, I am sorry that I have to ask you to store your firearms in the cargo hold along with your luggage for safety reasons." And I would've left it at that and wished them a safe landing.
