Very true. I knew a university student once (back when I was in the uni myself) who faked burnout every spring just so she'd get mental health leave (and financial benefits) every summer, instead of having to look for a job. Back then I was still able to struggle through the hardships financially (less employment going around), so when she told me of this, I felt a very strong urge to 1) give her a good trashing for being a lying cunt and 2) report her to the authorities. I can't remember why I didn't do one or the other... probably was too busy trying to scrape together a living.

Well I don't know if you would consider me a parasite leeching off the American government. I am pregnant, and a full time student at college. I have no time whatsoever for a job, and I am on WIC. I'm sure you would want to keep the pregnant women on WIC healthy right?

Now college students who use a bridge card for beer and cigarettes. Those are the parasites that need to be weeded out. They abuse the privelge of having a bridge card. If I was a taxpayer I would be pissed about this.
So I seperated your parasites from innocent humans needing help.

Has anyone looked at the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, also known as the Welfare Reform Act? It provides for, among other things:

- Ending welfare as an entitlement program;
- Requiring recipients to begin working after two years of receiving benefits;
- Placing a lifetime limit of five years on benefits paid by federal funds;
- Aiming to encourage two-parent families and discouraging out-of-wedlock births.

Also, an interesting statistic in the Wiki article is that "Between 1936 and 1969, the number of families receiving support increased from 162,000 to 1,875,000. After 1970, however, federal funding for the program lagged behind inflation. Between 1970 and 1994, typical benefits for a family of three fell 47% after adjusting for inflation." Not quite the cushy lifestyle, is it?

There has been criticism of the PRWORA, as might be expected. I just wanted to point out that being on welfare in the United States hardly makes one a parasite, and that the system is hardly a running sore through which the life-blood of the nation is hemorraghing.

I think the Goverment could do the following

-If people can't leave their homes: try to create home-based Employment - the Internet has made this easier than ever

-if People can't work due to Disability: try to 1) Change laws to make Work more Accessible for the Disabled 2) Increase H/S to prevent such Accidents

-If Parents can't seek employment due to Disabled children then the Goverment should make Facilities Avalible for Disabled Children, Nursing Staff should be brought in to Help said Parents.

No, Just because someone is unable to be sufficiently productive in furthering your nation's chosen economic system to maintain employment does not mean they are not contributing back to society in some other way. In my experience the parasites are the ones who wear suits, talk in sound bites, and demand far more then their fair share of the worlds resources while contributing nothing and living only for their own pleasure.

Yes, i find it annoying sometimes but overall it is very effective and useful.
