ARGGGH, mah neck!

Postby Hydesland » Sat Jul 25, 2009 7:17 am

I literally can't turn my neck to the left without experiencing a lot of pain, but turning it to the right is fine, I think it may have something to do with the position I slept in. What can I do? Just wait for it to heal itself? Violently turn my neck to the left to force whatever is causing the pain to go? Help meh plox

It's probably one of the muscles on the right-hand side of the neck. You need a massage.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

Yeah, don't do the violent head-turning thing.

I think this is something you're meant to see a chiropractor about, if it doesn't fix itself within a day. One of my friends had something like this (though I can't remember what it was exactly).

Intentionally turn your head into the pain and hold it as long as possible. If it's just a crick in your neck, it'll go away then. If it's not, well, you probably just made it worse.

I'd say let it rest for a day and see if it improves.

You're not doing the right muscle then. You need to move your neck (slowly) as far to the left as you can stand, then feel around your neck to find the muscle that jumps when you touch it.

That's the one that's troubling you.

Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and an ice pack, along with the massage. Good luck - know that hurts like hell.

Sounds more like a pinched nerve. I'd echo the chiropractor suggestions. You could see a masseuse, but if you don't get your neck realigned, a massage will only provide temporary relief.

Alternatively, you could just suffer for a few days. These things have a way of adjusting themselves after a while. That is, if it's a pinched nerve.

Ah, i remember this. When i was young this happened to me when i was sailing in a small cramped boat. Just relax you're muscles and stretch should go away after an hour or so.

I know exactly what you're talking about, Hydesland. I've had the exact same problem before and yes, you're correct. It usually is related to sleeping position, or something more serious, like whiplash from an accident, etc.

The best thing you can do is let it rest as best as possible, and limit the use of the neck muscle(s) in question. An ice pack and some tylenol/advil/ibuprofen should help as well.

Click this link here to read up some more on neck pain and what to do.

Best of luck.

Turn your neck really slowly to the left, as far as it can go, as many times as you can bear. Rest for a bit then repeat.
