Brit Pop/ Indie Rock

Postby Louis Van Boxel Woolf » Sat Jul 25, 2009 6:39 am

What are your opinions on bands such as now old 90's bands such as Madness, Blur and The Verve, the genre of music they are in is usually called Brit Pop or Indie Rock. Personally i've always had a bit of a soft spot for it, but fellow internet users what are your opinions?

Seven examples, three bands.

You need to have more bands and less examples. What I take from this thread is that you really like Blur.

I love me some Britpop, and the best of the best, in my opinion, is XTC.

I think it's hilarious that you think 10 years makes a band "VERY OLD."

Not really my thing, I prefer metal :)

That said, I doubt there's many people in my generation that don't like Song 2.

Meh, the reason i consider 10 years an old band is because i am 10 myself...

XTC were around long before anybody came up with the term Britpop. Very good band though, I always associate them with that term 'left-handed music'.

Britpop is kind of meh. It's one of the instances where there's a pretty good reason that all of those bands have (at most) 2 songs that are known to (the vast majority of) people in the U.S. Oasis is the best-known Britpop band, and for good reason.

Madness broke up in 1986, and I'd say were more leaning the 2-tone way.

If you liked that, do you like Oasis/Kasabian? I think they'd be up your street. And they really aren't uncool by my book. (Whereabouts are you?)

They reunited in 1992.

Nah. Blur would be the only one that I'd listen to an album of for fun. Not calling the rest of them bad by any means, but they're lacking....something.. that means they'll not be for me.

I used to like Kasabian until they remade the same album three times.
