Camron will win. Not cause anybody wants him to, I think, but simply because Labour have messed up so thouroughly now, they've got no chance in hell any more.

I'm not all too sure who I'd want to win... I think Cameron is a bit of a wet towel, he's getting popular on the back of Gordon's unpopularity. As Franky Boyle pointed out yesterday, he on principle answers questions on what he would do with "I'll tell you what we won't do", and then proceeds to list what Gordon's currently doing.
Cheap, but unfortunately effective, what with the British voting system and all.
"I was walking along the bank of a stream when I saw a mother otter with her cubs. A very endearing sight, and as I watched, the mother otter dived into the water and came up with a plump salmon, which she subdued and dragged on to a half-submerged log. As she ate it, while of course it was still alive, the body split and I remember to this day the sweet pinkness of its roes as they spilled out, much to the delight of the baby otters who scrambled over themselves to feed on the delicacy. One of nature’s wonders: mother and children dining upon mother and children. And that’s when I first learned about evil. It is built in to the very nature of the universe. If there is any kind of supreme being, I told myself, it is up to all of us to become his moral superior."

What's wrong with not feeling British and wanting independence? Why shouldn't they be allowed to go for independence?

I'm not saying wanting independance is wrong, after all our society protects free speech and political freedoms. They should be allowed independance if that's the way they want to go.

I was saying nobody is making a case for the union in scotland and a lot of people south of the border don't seem to care if the union breaks up. It was mentioned we would still have our English and Scotish national identities. That wasn't the identity I was talking about holding onto. Scotland and England aren't recognised nations they are regions of the UK. It's our British identity that would be lost if we break all our bonds of fellowship :p *insert lord of the rings quote here*

It does sadden me that not many people are that bothered about being British.

That's why we shouldn't allow the SNP to run rampant in Scotland, because all they want is to break up the union and we need to debate why we should protect it.

I think that the Tories are going to win a plurality: but winning a majority is a different thing. It could be that they will have to form a coalition cabinet with the Lib-Dems.

That won't happen. Judging by the recent council elections and polls, the Tories will be a majority party.

The pool question fails as well, because some people are answering who they want to win, and others are selecting who they think will win.

The poll is 'meh' BUT! Apart from that, most of the people I've heard or talked to about the different parties seem to feel more inclined to vote Conservative, mostly because they feel the need for a change of people and many seem fed up with the beauracracy-obsessed Labour party.

And? That's no argument for voting Tory, at least not before voting English Democrat, Lib Dem, BNP or whatever. Labour are shit, why go and vote for a party that will be only marginally better?

I fully expect that David Cameron's Conservatives will win the next election, comfortably, gaining the vast majority of their new seats in England.

I would not be at all surprised if they finish with no seats at all up here in Scotland (they were all but wiped out up here in 2005, winning just 1 seat out of 59). This would undoubtedly lead to a significant rise in nationalist fervour, since Salmond is a canny operator and is not likely to miss the opportunity to play on the fact that the country will be under the control of what would quite clearly be an 'English' government. A Tory victory next year might well turn out to be the best thing that ever happened for the SNP.

I'm not really up to speed on Welsh politics but I recall that the Tories won only 3 out of 40 Welsh seats last time around. If that's repeated, or if Welsh support for them continues to fall, then I'd expect an upsurge for the nationalist movement there, too.

Voted Conservative on the poll, not because I support them but because I'm certain that they'll win.

Personally I'm a Leftist. I support the Lib Dems. But if you want something general. The Conservatives are going to win, no questions asked. The Labour Party is fading away. The Lib Dems are gainning ground but not enough to seriously challenge the Conservatives. The Labour Party cant do much, the only way their going to win is if they turn public opinion in their favour, and there is a 10% chance thats going to happen. The Lib Dems are going to try and hang parliament, its the only realistic way they can become the lead opposition, or even take government. Anyway, I'm looking forward

Indeed it shouldn't be an argument for voting the Conservatives but I'm afraid with many people it is a reason for voting them - there are many people I know who will vote Conservative because they have grown to hate Labour over the past few years.

Personally, Liberal Democrat match more with my own skew on life but I don't think they will 'win' although I'm hoping they gain some more seats for further influence on the system.

I think the Conservatives will win.

Meh, dunno. What about the constituencies in Scotland? The Lib-Dems are quite strong there AND they could receive the votes of disaffectioned Labour supporters.

But there aren't enough constituencies in Scotland to challenge the juggernaut that is the Conservative party in England.

No, I don't believe putting people down is an effective way of challenging something - I do however discuss 'stuff' with 'em and help them see different (better in my opinion) lines of thinking.

Hilariously, if First Past the Post wasn't used, the Lib Dems would be a much much stronger party in Westminster.

Any party but Labour. In the wake of the Norwich North gain by the Tories it suggests that the MP expenses scandal has had a big hit on Labour. I may not be at all surprised if Labour lost many or even all their parliamentary seats in the next election.
