Don't get me wrong, I'd love to think that you worship God because you think he started your car for you, but you're just not convincing me that you're not trying to take the piss out of Christians.

I worship God because I believe in God, not because my car started, but because its what I chose to believe. (My parents never took me to church, I had friends who took me when I was younger), so no, it wasn't because what my parents told me what to believe.

Similarly, gravity is a fact. We know that gravity happens. We're just somewhat at a loss as to why. Gravity, as I understand it, is far less understood than evolution and natural selection. Where is all the controversy about gravity? Of course there is none. The controversy about evolution and other fields of science comes about because their findings increasingly support the possibility that the universe and life on Earth could have happened without any god or gods. This greatly upsets some theists, because they desperately want validation of their beliefs.

Since you're pointing out the mote in humanity's eye, what about the beam in your own, which is the assumption that an obscure tribe of nomads on this planet, "a singular particle of dust in this otherwise endless universe," was chosen by not just a greater and higher life form but by the actual creator of the entire universe itself, to be his special people and to whom he would send the physical manifestation of himself?
