Ugh. You know, it isn't as though every group out there has its good and bad points. I get a little tired of getting accused of being some horrible un-Christian monster just because I'm Mormon.

Yeah. Me. Terrible example of one, but there you have it. And probably a bit more devout in it than my antics on here may suggest now and then. I've a sense of humor. So sue me. :P

Its a long thread, and I've a headache, so I'm not about to go through all the way back and try to pick through everything that may or may not be correct to the best of my understanding. What I am going to suggest is that if you are not serious about giving the church a real look, don't waste your time, or the missionary's. If you are actually interested, ask some questions. Do some research. Check the lds.org site. Do some cross-referening. Pray *gasp* about it.

And if any of you actually have some questions worth asking that you think I can answer as truthfully as I can, well ask away. I'll be the first to tell you I don't think my religion has been perfect over the years, and I may or may not agree with some of the more controversial points that have been brought up. I also am not a professional history scholar, so I have to do some of my own research on things as well.

I still think its the best thing we've got going on currently, and to me, it makes more sense than a lot of other choices out there.

Oh, if you really want to get the Mormons riled up, ask about Blood Atonement and why some sins aren't covered by the Blood of Christ, so those members are shot.

I think interracial marriage was one of those sins.

the Word of Wisdom as it is called, says "hot drinks are not for the belly". Modern prophets have indicated this is coffee and tea (excluding herbal tea)

We are not told it is the caffeine. There are plenty of other harmful substances in both coffee and tea.

greed and death wrote:Well long story short I was fixing things outside the apartment complex I live at. These two missionaries happen to come by and strike up a conversation. Near the end of which they offer to help. I got them to do about half my work for the day.

However, I also agreed to let them come over to my place Friday in the evening to talk to me about their religion.
I have decided why not have some fun with this, Those more knowledgeable about the church of latter day saints, please provide me information to make the conversation amusing.

an example of a amusing conversation wolf be plato's Euthyphro.

One time they came over I talked to them about Rugby, because they asked about the socks I was wearing.
Another time they tried to convert me to this Jesus character, I wasn't interested, because they were trying to enlighten me to his awesomeness, but I already did believe.
One time the dog jumped on them and licked them.
A friend at school and his dad were working in the yard at the back of their property, they saw the mormons coming, the dad said "Ah Mormons", then he jumped into the neighbours property to get away.
100% 80% of the time.

Of course not, and I'm not trying to blame modern-day Mormons for the Mountain Meadows Massacre or anything else. If you go back in time, you'll see the crusades by the Catholics, 16th century France between Protestants and Catholics, hell even the Buddhists got angry once in a while and went around killing people. To blame the people for the actions of those long since dead is foolish.

Nanatsu misunderstood the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and I was simply clarifying.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

For the record, I complain about missionaries not because they are Mormon but because they are missionaries. I don't care what religion they are.

And I don't poke fun at KMA's bad arguments because they come from KMA, but because they are bad arguments.

Just wanted to clarify that. Bye now.

Blood Atonement is a temple thing which is not practiced anymore. I'm sure you can look it up somewhere. You jsut wont get an official LDS stance on it because we dont talk about what goes on in the temples.

I knew you were going to say that. This is the source that Wikipedia is quoting.

Young, Brigham (March 2, 1856), "The Necessity of the Saints Living up to the Light Which Has Been Given Them", in Watt, G.D., Journal of Discourses by Brigham Young, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, His Two Counsellors, the Twelve Apostles, and Others, 3, Liverpool: Orson Pratt, 1856, pp. 221–226 .

It seems Brigham Young was the one responsible for Blood Atonement.

You were saying?
