He told his disciples to gather food on the Sabbath, although the very first Sabbath regulation (given before the Israelites had reached Mt. Sinai and gotten the Ten Commandments) was "don't gather food" and death was the penalty for breaking it; questioned as to why he had ordered a breach of the law, he did not plead some re-interpretation but cited a case where David had broken the law. The point being, that there are times when breaking the law is RIGHT.
