If you look at the meaning of the words, the word rib means "side" or "frame". Which is pretty much a euphemism for the genetic code. So all that's saying is that Eve was made from the same genetic code as Adam.

Birds came after land animals appeared. Flying insects aren't birds.
I also don't like the idea that we are seperate from the animal kingdom. We are animals.
